in capital heights has claimed a second victim. 15-year-old ricky cole died yesterday afternoon as a result of his injuries. his 5-year-old niece jade buffalo died wednesday. her father remains in the hospital with severe burns and fire investigators say an improperly plugged in air- conditioning unit is to blame for the fire. d.c. police and members of the gay lesbian and transgender community held a rally last night stand up against hate crimes. the show of solidarity is in response to a recent attack on a gay couple. this rally held near the site of that attack. the 1900 block of third street in northeast. organizers asked neighbors to get more involved in this fight against intolerance. >> think about one thing you can do next week to fix this problem. whether it's volunteer with a local organization, donating to a cause, getting to know your neighbors. >> the attacks took place on july 22nd and one victim

suffered several broken bones and no one has been arrested. maryland lawmakers are in annapolis for a second time this summer for another special session. this one is aimed attending the political paralysis over gambling in the state. >> yesterday lawmakers took the first step to approving a bill which could put a big vegas style on the banks of the potomac. scott broom has more on debate from annapolis. >> reporter: on the plate here in the special session of the legislature is whether or not to allow a very big vegas style casino on the banks of the potomac river at national harbor. barely a mile across the d.c. line. at national harbor developers and county executive baker want a vegas stale casino. yet another expansion of gambling in maryland. an expansion that requires an act of the legislature and the approval of voters in a referendum in november.

complicated in virginia by a crash. it's northbound on 95 trying to get out of dumfries into dale city right near the way station and northbound it's in the left side of the roadway blocked there. camera shot kind of blurry there from vdot but the left side still blocked. so just waiting for tow trucks on i-66, between marshall and the plains to separate wrecks with details coming up in the next timesaver traffic at 4:47. jessica? thank you beverly. the time right now 4:40 and i am watching your money. here's today's headlines. the justice department decided it will prosecute goldman sachs or its employees in relation to the 2008 financial crisis. the doj issued a statement and it says -- it could not meet the burden of proof to show the company engaged in any illegal activities. the investigation began when a senate sub committee said that goldman sachs deceived investors about risky mortgage securities in order to shift risk from the company's balance sheet over to its investors.

the treasury department is set to release the budget report for july and when it comes out later this morning we're expected to learn the government has a deficit of $975 billion for the first ten months of the fiscal year. that sounds pretty bad but get this, the figure is lower than the $1.1 trillion deficit for the same period last year. maybe a small sign of improvement. and there's signs the job market is improving. 6,000 fewer people applied for unemployment benefits last week but the job crisis in greece is getting worse. the unemployment rate there has jumped to 23%. u.s. investors continue to watch greece's economic problems very, very closely and now checking the numbers from wall street -- some games already charge you for a sub sacramento kings to play. and now -- subscription to play. and now every app on facebook can sell you a subscription as

i don't think it's going to be raining all day. but keep the rain gear handy and it is going to be tough to get the outdoor plans in. i think some peeks of sunshine that will help keep temperatures in the mid 80s and maybe upper 80s with the south wind at about 10, maybe 10 to 15 but the threat of storms will be with us you'll see all day long. even though it won't be an all day rain. although there's a decent amount of rain coming in right now from west towards the east. east of town i know it's been quiet. last night heavy thunderstorms and i had an inch and two- thirds up at my place in clarksburg during the evening hours. and you see all of the rain coming up not as much lightning right now. seeing a little bit down just north of culpeper but switching over to live doppler 9000 hd, loudoun county, leesburg this is coming into you. headed up into frederick county lighter showers into montgomery although up to dickerson and poolesville you may get clipped by that. farther south south of aldi we have another patch of rain moving north and east. in fact to fauquier county back

to culpeper and rappahannock and look at the yellows and reds here. this is moderate to heavy rain. little bit of lightning and thunder mixed in as well and all of it lifting north northeast at 30 miles an hour. so prince william county, boy, this is going to get to you here over the next 30 to 60 minutes and then eventually fairfax the district closer in to the metro area and pension may be a -- prince george's county may be a little while still. even further south we go south of culpeper now. you see mod rain rains here and this is trying to get over to i- 95. so you get the idea. if you're not wet now, you're going to be coming wet over the next couple of hours. 80 if town. where it's -- in town. where it's still dry. but out to the west where we had heavy rain overnight temperatures in the upper 60s now on the i-81 corridor. it is 73 in gaithersburg. looking outside on the michael & son weather camera, got to point it to the west southwest hoping to catch a little lightning but not that much activity going on at the moment. as far as the lightning is concerned. 80 degrees and cloudy officially at reagan national.

tuesday. 4:48. beverly farmer over to you. howard, we've got an accident cleaning up on northbound 95. travelers out of stafford, quantico, making your way into dumfries the crash clean-up is right at the struck scale at the way station here between dumfries and dale city. still getting by along the right side with relatively friday brief delays. over to 66 in now inside the beltway, 66 falls church and into rosslyn lanes are open and pavement is dry. but 66 out in fauquier where you saw all that red and yellow on the radar? there's been an accident westbound at the pet exit at the planes at the 35 exit marker. eastbound there was a tree across the road at the 25-mile marker and a crash so cleaning that up. traffic is only getting by on the shoulder. we're getting word of the commercial fire on route 29 lee highway and gainesville close to route 15. shutting down at least southbound 29 so if that's your way up to 66, that's a trouble spot too. maryland beltway picking up all the road work, no problems to report right now as you make

your way in either direction through silver spring between new hampshire avenue, university boulevard all the road work out of the way and a good pace there 270, 95 and maryland the bw parkway checked in all right. that's a look at timesaver traffic. back to you. thanks. you have to add some time this weekend, metro riders you can expect another weekend of delays due to track work. the medical center in bethesda stations on the red line will be closed beginning at 10:00 tonight. and the closures will last through sunday. shuttle buses will be provided but red line riders should add an extra half hour to the trip. there are also be single tracking on parents of the orange -- parts of the orange, blue and green lines. passengers at dulles airport you have a new tool to get through security quicker. a new video system calculates wait times at the main terminals east and west check points. the information will allow passengers to select the lines which are moving the quickest. the wait times are displayed at the check point mezzanines and

on the airport authority's website. dulles is the first airport in the country to employ this new technology. making more people sick. the centers for disease control report that 145 new cases this week have been reported that is up from just 29 last week. most illnesses are in children. and they are mild. the cdc says the flu is spreading from infected pigs and so far people are not spreading it to each other. health experts say anyone attending state or county fairs should wash their hands if they are around pigs. high levels of iron could raise your risk of bowel cancer. according to british researchers it can activate a faulty anticancer gene. a new study in the lance et finds the benefits of cholesterol lowering drugs
