this it's awesome. >> and that was katie reporting. i love that story. that's a great story. what about our forecast? >> our forecast is looking good especially for folks that are going out to the beaches over the next couple of days. long-term looks good. for this morning it started off with the fog and overcast skies. right now we have broken out with brilliant sunshine. in fact sunglasses are getting a workout and from our camera it's a little hazy. we don't have too much in the way of moisture just yet. i am looking at our radar which will bring in a little bit more of that moisture later on today. day planner is sitting at 78 degrees for reagan national airport. we will keep ongoing. we should hit those lower 80s by early afternoon. i would say 3:00 to 4:00 we should hit our peak around 92. 93 to 94 degrees in town and then a little bit of cloud cover we will start to push on through late in the day. that means it's a slight risk for a late day shower and thunderstorm to bubble up but that chance is very slight.
12:21 pm
doppler radar quiet and will stay that way for the next couple of hours and the satellite and radar view shows a little moisture starting to bubble up toward our west and that will make it up and over the mountains and regenerates as it gets closer to us. that remains to be seen but we will continue to track that for you. current temperatures are rising rapidly. upper 70s to near 80 degrees around the region and we will keep on moving. you will need those sunglasses throughout the afternoon and then the clouds will pull on through and that means warming temperatures today and not as hot. our winds out of the northeast have held us below average just by a degree or two. definitely see our humidities and our dew point levels remain high so it will feel muggy in that summer time pattern for the next couple of days. future cast forecast model is giving us the opportunity for the late day showers and storms mainly across our northern and western locations. i think most of us will come through rain-free but that changes tomorrow by the time it's at thursday afternoon and evening we could see some showers and thunderstorms
12:22 pm
nearby. highs today into the 80s. overnight lows in the 60s and 50s even and that seven-day forecast is definitely going to feature a bit of a warm up. we will keep it dry for thursday and friday. not too bad as we head in toward the weekend but watch for the warm up on the way as we go into next week. stick around, 9 news now will continue after this.
