columbia heights community. the robbery was caught on surveillance video. >> police are releasing the surveillance, hoping that you can help catch the crook. we have more on the story. >> reporter: the crook cam was strolling. the man with the backpack is the victim. the suspect runs behind him, up the steps and right into the church. >> a terrible thing to happen at the church. >> the thug made off with the man's bag, called and smart phone, not before ordering the victim to the ground and one other person inside. >> if it is -- crazy, i can't believe that someone will do something like that.

>> anyone who is help them make an arrest. if you have details for police, give them a call. prince gorgeous county made an arrest in a mugging case of an elderly woman. the 84-year-old was beaten, robbed and left alone in her apartment for 24 hours. this 56-year-old is the person responsible. shaun jackson lives hex to the woman. he called 9-1-1 for help. >> i was going on my way to work, she was down there screaming like help me, help me. she was sitting there. bruised up everywhere. >> what do you think would have happened you didn't hear her? >> she may have passed away. >> he ran out the back of the balcony with $50, but left a drop of blood behind with the victim bit him on the hand. police used dna to make the

arrest. the battle against nuisance nightclubs continues in pines gorgeous county. police are saying that the hall use and occupancy permit was expired and not removed. there was a recent assault investigation at the place that bought the police to the club. a developing story in maryland. according to the "washington post," five football players have been kicked off the team. according to one of the parents, these players at the high school, hired prostitutes from a call service in north carolina, after the team's season opening victory last week in hillside, north carolina. the players allegedly snuck the women into their hotel rooms. virginia is issuing a risi number of concealed weapon permits to people who live in other states. this week saw a surge of requests from 50 to a thousand. >> not one of those people will have to fire a gun to get a permit. that might be the reason behind

the surge of new interest. >> reporter: before you can buy a gun from sharpshooters in virginia, you have to be able to use it. >> you have to know how to that is it. to buy a gun or carry it. >> reporter: that's not what the state of virginia says, there is nothing that requires you to know how to fire or hold a gun before receiving a virginia concealed weapons permit. thanks to a 2009 law pushed by the state attorney, gun classes can be taken on-line. this costs $39 and targets residents in the states that have permit reciprocity with virginia. >> to get your handgun license by the state of virginia. >> reporter: texas requires permit applicants to take a 10 hour course, which includes a test on their shooting ability.
