weekend at a northeast dc pharmacy. this is not the first time that gunfire has erupted there. a customer walked into the rite aid and shot an employee in the leg. they are still looking for the shooter. back in april an employee was shot and paralyzed during an attempted robbery then. a massive clean up effort is underway in reston, virginia. one of the worst areas is near lake ann. the storm sent trees on to homes, cars and power lines. huge cranes had to be brought in. people say it is amazing no one was seriously hurt. district officials have announced new steps to try to prevent flooding of the booming dale and detroit neighborhoods in northwest. short-term fixes include additional storm drains and rain barrels to collect run offs

good morning. i don't think redskins fans could be any happier waking up this morning. normally redskins fans usually don't have the best headlines to look at this morning. this is the express front page, believe it. rg iii shines as the redskins stun the saints in the season opener. i also want to do a check on some headlines on my ipad. check this out. this is the front page of the nfc east. robert griffin iii breathes life into the redskins. my personal favorite, washington redskins handing out week one award for the redskins. not many people thought the washington redskins would go into the superdome and beat the new orleans saints. and yet here we are, of course the redskins put a lot of time and energy and training into

washington area, prices are averaging $3.80 a gallon. officials with aaa said prices are expected to drop now that the summer driving season is over, hurricane season is also more than halfway over and refineries are switching to less expensive winner blend gasoline. remains to be seen. how safe are the baby bumpers that line the inside of cribs. the state of maryland wants to know. it is planning to hold hearings on possible voluntary safety standards. studies have shown crib bumpers can suffocate or strangle babies. manufacturers say they are safe, if used correctly. officials have been discussing an out right ban but the baltimore sun says the state is instead considering voluntary standards. here's a heads up. you will be seeing ads from anheuser busch, pepsi, and treat tow lay in the next super bowl . the super bowl is already

>> a challenge too because the results came a few months after her mother and sister were diagnosed with ovarian cancer. the disease eventually took her mother's life at age 79. genetics tests revealed she was at grafter risk for both breast and ovarian cancer. >> it was challenging. i didn't tell anybody. after a month and a half, that is when i shared with them, after i knew it was bad and definitely coming surgery. >> reporter: surgery took place at mercy hospital here in baltimore, where doctors took an aggressive approach to the disease. >> two lymph nodes were involved. no only we had to remove the breast involved with cancer, we have to go bilateral mastectomy. >> reporter: there was breast reconstruction, chemo and then
