placed on leave for signing a petition to put a same-sex marriage amendment on the ballot. dr. angela mccaskill is chief diversity officer and she wants to be reinstated. her attorney says she's not antigay though they wouldn't say where she stands on the issue of same-sex marriage because it's not relevant. they are demanding the university reinstate her to the position of chief diversity office. we're told mccaskill signed the petition to put the same-sex marriage issue on the ballot because she's pro-democracy. here's what she had to say. >> they have allowed misinformation to be circulated throughout the campus community. they have attempted to intimidate me. they have tarnished my reputation and my 24 years of service. my record at gallaudet

university speaks for itself. and i ask to be judged by what i have done. >> university president dr. her witnesses also released a -- herwitz also released a statement. while i expect that a resolution of this matter can be reached that will enable dr. mccaskill to continue as our chief diversity officer. this will require that she and the university community work together to respond to the concerns that have been raised. we'll keep you updated on this story. according to a new study in the journal of the american medical association, cholesterol levels have been improving in american adults over the past 20 years. researchers found chest recall levels have dropped it 1988 and 2010. she say more people are taking lip bid lower -- lipid lowering medications and many people are making healthy lifestyle changes and reducing the amount

metro officially notified congress it will miss the deadline to have all of its underground stations wired for cell phone service. in a letter to several lawmakers, metro's general manager says right now all but three stations have the infrastructure. the delays after the deadly accident on the redline three years ago and missed estimations of how long the project would take are to blame. metro doesn't anticipate the project will be finished till 2015. 12 years ago the baltimore ravens brought home the super bowl title to charm city and linebacker ojbergandtz played a big role. but his life has taken a today maltically -- dramatically different path. we introduce you to life after football with the defender now dealing with a debilitating disease. >> reporter: you know the whole cheer. defense attacks the quarterback. that's what oj did during his professional and football

as a recipient of this wheelchair from the brigance brigade, a foundation that helps improve the quality of life. >> i focus on what i can do to make a difference in people's lives. >> i pretty much conceded that the disease has taken my ability to walk away. i've got young children. they're extremely active and without this wheelchair, it means go out and do the things that i otherwise would not be able to do. >> reporter: the brigance brigade also funds various research initiatives and part neared with todd general kins who will represent them at the championship next month. >> don't give up because your experience from your challenges can be a blessing to someone going through the same thing.
