what we're told are minor injuries. you know, last night's crash is reminder of what happened in february of 2008. a drag race on indian head highway in maryland left 8 people dead and 6 injured. a crowd gathered to watch the race and another car in an unofficial race went into them. he was sentenced to 15 years in prison for involuntary manslaughter. he was racing taylor. his first trial ended in a hung jury. most of the charges were dropped in the retrial. we learned taylor is now on probation for manslaughter in connection with the drag racing death. a virginia man trying to cut down a tree meets a tragic fate. he was trying to cut down a tree in his own backyard when it fell on him.

police say relatives visiting the home found the man pinned under that tree. he was pronounced dead at the scene. >> it has been a bloody two days in iraq. back-to-back bombings and shootings killed 17 people, injured 35 others. the blasts came within minutes apart. most of the victims women and children. the gun plan opened fire early in the day killing two officers and more bloodshed at a check point where three officers were killed. what better place to commemorate women in the military, than here in the state's capital. it was held tonight. the they marched in honor of those who served. >> this has been going on all day today and it finally came to a conclusion here. it finished here at arlington national cemetery. >> the service may be over and

some 1600 people turned out for a walk to stop diabetes. andrea and monica and jessica co-hosted the event up. their team daddy's girl was one of 255 teams that helped the american diabetes association raise more than $356,000. we're so excited. this is a beautiful day. you know it is a personal reason. my mother was diagnosed with type 2 in 2002. i'm here walking for her and i'm so proud of her. >> i'm here for my dad who has type 2 diabetes. i'm so proud of my dad for keeping it under control for almost 20 years. yes, dad, i love you. >> i'm here for my father jim doyle who passed away about a year ago. we love him and miss him and it is a great day. you can beat this disease.
