team. also new tonight, lawmakers will hold hearings to determine why congress was not kept more fully informed about that fbi investigation. matt jablow picks up the story from here. >> reporter: david petraeus is a great leader, a great patriot. >> reporter: leaders of both parties had great praise on this veteran's day for one of the country's most decorated veterans, former cia director and retired army general okay david petraeus. his accomplishments notwithstanding, most lawmakers agree that petraeus simply had to go after the fbi uncovered an affair he was having with paula broadwell, a 40-year-old west point graduate who wrote a biography of petraeus that was published early this year. >> i can't believe it, but that's what it is. >> reporter: today we learned that the fbi discovered petraeus' affair with broadwell while investigating claims by another woman, jill kelley, that broadwell was sending

kelley threatening e-mails. kelley was a social liason in florida, and has declined to talk publicly about the scandal except to say she and her family have been friendly with petraeus and his family for more than five years. >> we received no advance notice. it was like a lightning bolt. >> reporter: democratic senator diane feinstein is head of the senate intelligence committee. she intends to hold hearings into why for several months the fbi kept her committee mostly in the dark about their investigation. >> this is something that could have had an effect on national security. i think we should have been told. >> according to cbs news, petraeus claims his affair with broadwell lasted less than a year, beginning at the end of last year just after he became head of the cia and ending about four months ago. matt jablow, 9 news now. at arlington national cemetery today president obama paid tribute to the nation's

service members on this veteran's day. the president says the wreath he laid at the tomb of the unknowns is intended to remember every service member who has ever worn our nation's uniform. he urged americans to welcome back soldiers who are coming home. >> over the next few years, more than a million service members will transition back to civilian life. they'll take off their uniforms and take on a new and lasting role. they will be veterans. as they come home, it falls to us, their fellow citizens, to be there for them. >> the president also noted this is the first veteran's day in a decade with no american troops fighting in iraq. the vietnam veterans memorial continues to be one of the area's most visited sites in this holiday weekend is no exception. surae chinn talked to veterans who gathered at the wall today. >> i come out twe a year for

wall. all my brothers and sisters. >> reporter: veterans make the annual trek to the wall that bring them right back to the battlefields of vietnam. >> he was killed september 22, 1968. >> reporter: a tough journey of reflection, but one these soldiers will never miss on veteran's day. >> you know, it's just something that i have to do. i hope that all my brothers and sisters are all resting in peace. >> reporter: at the vietnam veterans memorial, surae chinn, 9 news now. >> this week marks the 30th anniversary for the vietnam veterans memorial. a wreath-laying ceremony was also held at the national world war ii memorial in the mall today. the national parks service and friends of the national world war ii memorial held the event 20 honor veterans from all wars and give special recognition to veterans who served during the second world war. turning elsewhere, residents of an indianapolis

neighborhood still reeling after an explosion killed two people and damaged at least 31 homes. at least 7 people were injured in the blast. many of the homes were so heavily damaged that they had to be demolished. susan mcginnis reports tonight investigators aren't sure what caused the fiery blast but the possible causes include a gas leak. >> reporter: the crews picked through the rubble of two homes leveled in an explosion in indianapolis. they're trying to determine what caused the powerful blast that killed two people and injured several others. >> the house probably felt like it moved a foot or so. and all we can do is get out of here. >> reporter: officials say the explosion damaged at least 80 homes and dozens are damaged enough that they may have to betorn down. the fiery blast around 11:00 saturday night left neighbors shocked. >> i was sitting here watching tv. the next thing you know a loud explosion, the whole house shook, things falling off of walls. >> reporter: 200 people were

forced to evacuate while firefighters battled the flames that spread to other homes. this home is one of the homes that caught fire. people say they felt the blast as far as three miles away. >> the house felt like it was shaking. your chest was shaking. it just felt -- it's nothing that you've ever experienced. >> reporter: the wag nears live about -- wagners live about 300 yards from the site of the explosion. the blast shattered some of their windows and blew in their front door. >> people are in shock because it was such a surreal thing. no one knew what it was. >> reporter: this community is coming together. neighbors quickly stocked relief centers with food, diapers and anything people who can't go back home may need. suzanne mcginnis, cbs news, indianapolis. we've got an update to that armed robbery and shooting near the white house last week. one of the victims says the getaway car was caught on tape by a surveillance camera attached to the front of his business. the man does not want to be identified. he was held at gunpoint and robbed along with four of his

friends. he says there were four suspects, three of them wore a mask and carried a gun. the suspects are still at large tonight and the victims fear they'll strike again. >> i keep calling the second district asking, you know, the detective in charge what's going on. they've been very helpful so far. but i need these guys to be caught. all i know is the guys are still on the run, my life is threatened. i'm the only one that saw their face. i'm not scared of them. i'm not scared at all. i'm just very frustrated. i don't want to be looking over my shoulder every day. >> police say they're aggressively following leads tonight and still looking for a silver or white lincoln with d.c. tags ec 0424. a gunman opened fire at ataco bell wounding the manager in maryland. howard county police say the victim was confronted by two men outside the restaurant early this morning. they shot the manager several

times before fleeing. other taco bell employees managed to call 911. tonight that manager is still in critical condition. >> i hope he lives. i hope he lives. it's just too dangerous to be out at night. >> that's something i didn't imagine. it's normally, you know, dealt with pretty quick. the crime rate here is zero to none. so i'm surprised to hear something like that. >> the gunmen are still on the loose tonight. police are not saying what the motive was for this shooting. coming up on 9 news now, a huge protest over in greece over the country's handling of the financial crisis. local workers headed to new jersey to help out. there's still plenty of need nearly two weeks after hurricane sandy. we had a gorgeous weekend. how much longer can this weather last? at least through tomorrow morning. as you're heading out the door, looks like we'll have clear skies and comfortable temperatures as well between 41 and 50 by 7:00 a.m., 40and 50s by 9:00 a.m. you're going to need to bring a

tonight, greek lawmakers have taken another step toward trying to revive an international bailout program for that country. they pass add new budget in hopes of bringing much needed international aid to their debt- laden economy while keeping the financially troubled economy on the eu currency system. thousands of protesters demonstrated and clashed with police in riot gear as they protested the new budget that calls for spending cuts and higher taxes. tomorrow eu finance ministers will meet. the greek economy prices will be the center of those talks. in florida today a rally on

behalf of a bethesda, maryland man being held in a cuban prison. demonstrators gathered in west palm beach where the national symphony was making its first u.s. tour. they're protesting the imprisonment of alan gross, serving a 15-year sentence on charges he was trying to undermine the cuban government. gross says he was merely trying to provide internet service to the small jewish community in cuba. there was a letter signed by 500 rabbis and addressed to cuba's president. it calls for gross' release on humanitarian grounds. residents could have their electricity back, but tens of thousands of homes and businesses were too damaged to receive it. residents of those homes are now scrambling to find temporary housing. real estate agents say demand is out stripping supply. on new york's long island 130,000 customers are still

without electricity tonight. that's led to angry poe protests this weekend by frustrated residents. >> they were warned weeks in advance that this was coming, and it wasn't going to be small. it was going to be major. and they just ignored us. but the big ceo's and all the big mucky mucks in lipa, i'm sure they have power and heat. >> it's sad. how long is it going to take to get our electricity back? there's elderly and sick people that live here. god forbid, but what is it going to take? somebody living in their house and dying and it's so cold. we need power back. >> the long island power authority says nearly 140,000 homes are still without electricity this weekend. some local verizon employees are headed to new jersey. a convoy of technicians left maryland to help restore internet service to victims of hurricane sandy. verizon says it will send some 80 trucks and more than 100 technicians to the area who

know how to build communication systems from the ground up. a man is dead following an early morning shooting in prince george's county. the killer is still out there. tonight police are asking for your help in finding him. the slaying occurred at the intersection of charleston place and direction he drexel street before 1:30 this morning. the 20-year-old resident was pronounced dead at a local hospital. anybody with information about the shooting contact prince george's police immediately. tonight we know the names of two people killed in a collision between a pedestrian and a motorcycle. it happened saturday afternoon on branch avenue between st. barnabas and iverson road in suitland. prince george's county police say harry lee was not in the crosswalk when he was struck by a motorcycle jonathan evans. 64-year-old clinton resident was pronounced dead at the scene. 40-year-old evans was taken to a nearby hospital where he also

died a short time later. a maryland woman is giving birth to quad drewlets. she gave birth to four babies on november 1st. the births took an hour and all are said to be doing well tonight. they were born 8 weeks premature. they weigh between 2 pounds, 6 ounces and 4 pounds, 10 ounces. she and her husband, they also have a 3-year-old son. there was room for everyone in this yoga class. coming up, why thousands are feeling a little stretched tonight. and can we keep this mild weather around through monday? erica has the forecast when we come back.

to taste good. it's for a good cause. >> my opinion about the situation has changed that it was for a good cause. we were just saying these world- record-breaking things, it's publicity stunt. great weather today. >> it was wonderful weather to give you. but now things are going to start to go on the downward trend over the next couple of days. let's enjoy what we've got out there right now. taking a look at the michael and son weather cam. it's still clear. it is still dry. and it is still comfortable. 54 degrees right now with a dew point in the mid-40s. that means we won't have to deal with any fog overnight tonight. winds out of the south/southwest as predicted getting a little bit stronger now, up to 8 miles per hour. we'll see winds at 10 miles per hour or so as we head into the morning hours. it continues to be very pleasant overnight tonight. and we will wake up to sunshine on monday morning. if you have the day off, you

can still get out and enjoy it. it's not going to be quite as warm as today, but at least the rain holds off until after sunset, so the clouds build in late but the rain doesn't get here until after night fall, and then it could get heavy at times as we head into early tuesday morning. take a look at our current temperatures. it's still 58 degrees in hagerstown. 52 in manassas and 56 in annapolis. we're looking at temperatures only slipping into the 40s across the divide. it's 46 in cumberland. still 52 in oakland. we have another one of the situations just like last night, where the clouds are helping to keep some of that heat in that we had during the day. and we're also seeing that heat rise from the surface so the higher elevations are still staying warm right now. you can see the cold front on the way though and on the back side of the cold front, can you see the line of the blue and pink there? snow and ice mixing in on the back side of this storm system. that's going to miss us to the north. we'll stay in the rain shield which you see approaching right

now, the nashville area. overnight will stay clear and comfortable, down to 41 degrees in the outlying suburbs and 50 downtown with the winds at southwest at 10 miles per hour. it will still be mostly sunny tomorrow morning, but becoming breezy. temperatures in the 40s and 50s. still be comfortable, but you need a light jacket, and then during the afternoon getting into the 60s once again. but more clouds build in. breezy conditions, 60 to 66 for your high today. we got up to 71 degrees at reagan national. so it's going to be a little bit cooler today.  it was a very, very warm day for this time of year. but tomorrow, temperatures will be closer to where they should be this time of year. we normally only get up to about 60. 62 in winchester tomorrow. 65 in leesburg and manassas. 62 in hagerstown. along the beltway we're going to see temperatures rising into the mid-60s. 66 at andrews air force base. 64 in gaithersburg. 64 downtown in d.c. cambridge, 65 degrees. code green fort next few days. even though we have the cold

front on the way. i think the showers and pockets of heavier rain will mostly be during the overnight so at a time of day where it's not going to affect us too much. you notice that drop in temperatures from mid-60s tomorrow down to mid-50s for tuesday and wednesday, feeling like fall once again. taking a look at the seven-day forecast, we'll keep it dry after that cold front moves through wednesday, thursday and friday. a good amount of sunshine mixing with the clouds. temperatures remaining in the mid-50s though. it will be cool and heading into next weekend a coastal system on the way could bring us showers, but most of the moisture appears to be offshore, which is good news. we can keep it mostly dry for those football games next weekend. terps are in town and so are the skins. okay, and let's hope for wins. you say you've been thinking about taking up yoga. thousands of taiwanese gathered for a mass yoga session this weekend. 7,400 people attended the event which attracted yoga lovers from around the country. the hour long session kicked off with a round of meditation.

the participants ranged in age from young adults to 80-year- olds. baltimore ravens linebacker ray lewis made an unusual appearance this weekend. lewis has been sidelined from the team from an injury but that didn't stop him from hosting a one night only exhibit of his photography. lewis turned a collection of photographs taken from his boca raton, florida, home into an exhibit at maryland art place. photography may be a hobby to a lot of people but lewis is not a novice at this. >> for me, this is now ten years of photography. it's the total opposite of my every day world. my everyday world is real out. >> we're thrilled to have ray here. he's exhibiting in support of maryland art place and also exhibiting his photography for the first time. >> it's amazing. the soft side of the guy. he's a beast on the field. his photo exhibit was the showcase of this weekend's maryland art place annual gala. ed ravens didn't need ray
