eastern shore. you can see a couple of sprinklesholding together here and just southeast of bowie. along and south of route 50. across the bay with showers from cambridge back have just been breaking up some and to the south we have a few sprinkles you see them out of the northern neck into st. mary's county. it's time for timesaver traffic with monika samtani. on the outer loop of the beltway before university boulevard a car hit a pole along the right side of the road. and you know friday morning volumes are so light it's not affecting traffic too much. but i want you to be aware of it if that's where you're headed on this north side of town heading west on the beltway you see just that bit of yellow there and that's why because of the accident. other than that you're okay. let's take a live look outside. show you what it looks like on southbound 270 but it's better than normal heading for 109 down to 121. a look at the maps again, and this time over to the other side of town. no problems to report southbound on 270 as you just saw. let's take a live look from our

sky 9 on the inbound side of i- 66 looking great here at route 50. i'll be back with more coming up at 6:11. back to you guys. thank you monika. former cia director david petraeus will be on the hill this morning, he's going to testify about the september attack on the u.s. consulate in benghazi, libya. >> he was scheduled to appear before a congress until intelligence committee -- congressional intelligence committee yesterday but that was put on hold following his resignation last week. >> 9news now reporter surae chinn is live from capitol hill with more on the hearings today. good morning surae. >> reporter: good morning to both of you. this is day two of the hearings but for the first time hearing from petraeus in these hearings. lawmakers say they're strictly focused on the attacks in benghazi. former cia director david petraeus will be grilled on what he knew when before, during and after the assault. the closed door hearing will be his first public appearance since resigning and admitting to an affair with his biographer a week ago.

yesterday, the intelligence committee members were given a time lin of events and shown realtime classified videos captured from security crams at the -- cameras at the consulate and a drone overhead. >> petraeus went to tripoli. he interviewed many of the people as i understand it that were involved and so the opportunity to get his views i think are very -- is very important. >> are there still questions out there? you bet and we're going to continue to work to get those answers. >> reporter: it took ten days for the fbi to get this video from the security cameras from the consulate. it could explain excuse me, why they didn't get the full picture here back in the united states. in the next half hour i'm going to go into detail over the timeline and what actually happened and what type of video they were given. back to you. >> thank you surae. we have an update that's

important on the breaking news amber alert out of virginia we've been reporting throughout the morning. deputies in halifax county still looking for 1-year-old alexis rose carwile. and the search extends into the d.c. area. police say she was abducted by 41-year-old eugene black, the child's father and 35-year-old jennifer carwile the girl's mother. black has been apprehended in chesterfield county and they have the car apparently as well but they are still looking for the mother. jennifer carwile and again the little girl. a surprise verdict declared in the bowie state murder trial. alexis simpson the young woman accused of stabbing her young roommate dominique frazier to death was found not guilty on all seven counts. while outside her family and friends rejoiced. simpson said she was bullied by frazier and had even asked to be moved out of the dorm room with the dead woman. and claim she was only

defending herself. the jury took about three hours to deliver the not guilty verdict. new information this morning about a sheriff's deputy who shot and killed a suspect in river dale, maryland on wednesday. we first told you this story yesterday morning. deputy sheriff paul perriello attempt today serve a temporary peace order on franklin sweeney jr. but ended up shooting sweeney when he saw the man appeared to be holding a black handgun. we now know it was a replica handgun. he is on leave now. coolidge high school principal thelma jarrett will be arraigned the morning. the principal being arraigned after a scuffle outside the high school. the principal turned herself in yesterday and facing is misdemeanor simple assault charge. the fight occurred november 2nd in the school parking lot after a football game a police report shows. the person who filed the complaint a 37-year-old female staff member. our time is 5:05 and jessica doyle is back with a special your money report.

petraeus arriving an capitol hill to face congress. he's expected to explain how the cia tried to fight off attacks at the u.s. consulate in benghazi. we'll hear from lawmakers who questions about the timing of will resignation. and plus nfl commissioner roger goodell will be here and we'll ask him about getting concussions out of professional and youth football. that and when are when we see you at 7:00 -- more when we see you at 7:00. >> of course char lee was here about the petraeus affair. >> of course mr. petraeus is supposed to go in front of everybody on capitol hill today. surae chinn is live on the hill with what we can expect as we look forward to testimony today. good morning surae. >> reporter: good morning mike. well, this will be petraeus' first public appearance since the sex scandal broke. the justice department says that his affair didn't put the nation at risk. well, the hearings, the first day of the hearing yesterday did give lawmakers a better

idea of what happened. lawmakers were first shown cell phone video of the attack. it revealed the initial attack was not well planned and in part was inspired by televised scenes of protestors storming the american embassy in cairo because of an anti-muslim video running on the internet. others seemed to be more interested in looting. it left the consulate in flames. the surviving americans then retreated to a cia safe house a mile away. but then, this was a four hour lull in the fighting which gave the rescue team a chance to get over to benghazi, but ten minutes later, the attackers brought in mortar. they started the assault. this was captured on security cameras and a drone overhead. more organized this time and deliberate. there were five rounds, two missed and three hit. >> number one, were mistakes made? guys we know mistakes were made and we've got to learn from that. and our membership asked some

very hard and very tough questions of our witnesses today. and we're going to continue to do that. >> reporter: well, petraeus will be appearing today at the hearing but lawmakers say they are focusing solely on the attacks in benghazi. the hearings will continue today on day two can then it will continue to next week. there will be two more hearings then a public hearing where we can hear a little more of the details and the some of the classified information. back to both of you. >> all right. with that update from the hill. israeli officials had suspended their offensive in the strip because of the brief visit by egypt's premier. however israel responded firing on hamas commander's home because they say the palestinians broke the truce. three israelis and 18 palestinians were killed earlier in cross border attacks with the israeli military and

hamas. fighter jets drops the bombed on the target in gaza this morning. it was the heaviest fighting in the region in four years. the largest oil spill in u.s. history is leading to the largest criminal fine in u.s. history. yesterday bp, british petroleum agreed to pay $4.5 billion in connection to the april 2010 exblog that killed 11 workers and released an estimated 205 million gallons of oil into the gulf of mexico. another federal program was supposed to hit a deadline today. state governments were supposed to decide if they were going to set up health insurance exchanges. well, they now have an extension. it's going to be december 14th. those exchanges if they go into place will let small businesses access online to a marketplace to find more affordable health care. d.c., maryland and 14 other states already established these exchanges. virginia will not be creating one and 13 states still have not decided yet. 6:35. a special your money report
