the industries that are adding jobs while millions of americans strug tom find work. >> reporter: employers continued hiring even during the intense negotiations in washing tonight. the economy hired 155,000 jobs. there were gains in healthcare, food services and manufacturing, also in construction which added 30,000 jobs. that was the biggest jump in over a year, partly from rebuilding aflt superstorm sandy -- after superstorm sandy. but those increases have not helped ter resa. she has been working at the same bank for 10 years before being laid off. >> it affects everything. >> reporter: wall street would like better news. the numbers were in line with expectations but nothing to celebrate. >> we had lot of temporary hiring at the end of the year.

looking into exactly how that officer was killed. police are looking for the man who stabbed a cab driver during an attempted carjacking. it happened this morning on kenyon street northwest near 7th street northwest. investigators say that the cab driver was conscious and briefing after the stabbing. police are looking for the stolen vehicle and the suspect. u.s. senator michael crapo from idaho, pleaded guilty to drunk driving charges earlier this morning. the republican lawmaker was arrested on december 23rd after officers said he ran a red light in alexandria. tests show that his blood alcohol level was above the legal limit. the senator issued a statement apologizing for his actions and he is not expected to contest the dwi charge. he received a $250 fine and a

12-month suspension of his dplns. a plea bargain is expected in the case of a former corrections officer accused of ignoring a dying inmai. anthony mcintosh was scheduled to go to trial next week. however, looks like a deal will be entered today. ronnie white was accused of killing a police officer. corrections officers insist that white actually killed himself. >> more federal assistance is on the way for victims of superstorm sandy after a delay that outraged some lawmakers. today some much needed money is going to get to flood victims. danielle nottingham has the latest from championship. >> reporter: the house -- passed a bill top send money to victims

ago. sandy hit in october causing damage on the jersey shore and lirr. it has been distributed in 11 states and the district of columbia. president obama is scheduled to sign it into law and then checks can be distributed. sandy was the most costly disaster since cat in -- katrina in 2005. justin wolf did not walk out of prison as his family had hoped. he was convicted of hiring a man to kill a drug dealer. in 2011 the case was overturned after a key witness took back his story. a judge ordered that he would be release. yesterday was supposed to be that day but at last minute a federal appeals court iervened

we're few weeks away from the second inauguration of president obama. his first inauguration drew more than 1 million people, but his second swearing in ceremony is not expected to be that bismght roughly 800,000 people are expected to be on the national maw. meanwhile a prince george's county is getting a special contract. hargrove will be the special contractor to create folks for the inaugural parade and staging of the inaugural ball. we also know more about metro's plans. metro will be hope open from 4 a.m. monday the 21st until tuesday. peak fares will be in effect and the archives mt. vernon square
