healthca healthcare.gov? >> he goes for laughs. >> you need to get on healthcare.gov because that's one of the most disgusting things i've ever seen. captioning funded by cbs this is the "cbs morning news" for wednesday, march 12th, 2014. good morning. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. it's been days now since a malaysia airline with 239 people onboard vanished in midair. a massive search has turned up more questions than answers. this morning the prime minister called for patience but the malaysia officials have issued confusing and contradicting statements nunld acknowledge they don't even know what direction the plane was headed when it disappeared. marlie hall is here in new york with the details. marlie, good morning. >> anne-marie, good morning. it's being called one of the

most baffling miss stres in resent aviation history. the only thick we know for sure is so far there is no trace of malaysian airlines flight 370. malaysia's air force chief now denies reports that military radar showed flight 370 changed course and made it to the strait of malaka before disappearing, and that's giving way to more frustration and confusion. ma slay shann chinese officials held a meeting. they say they're not working hard enough or fast enough. dozens of shipsludi inc two u.s. navy destroyers are combing the seas around malaysia and vietnam. they're traveling in presight mary let lines looking for any sign of a plane. they say a water search is difficult. >> you've got to deal with current, visibility, things like winds and waves if the ocean

acts up. >> the plane disappeared saturday on its way from kuala lumpur to beijing. they have to look at mechanical a fillure, hijacking, and sabotage. cia director john brennan says terrorism should not be ruled out. >> we know there are terror groups still determined to carry out especially against aircraft. >> malaysia's prime minister is asking the relatives of the 239 people on board to be patient. family members of a few of the passengers are asking the malaysia airline to search for the gps location of their loved ones' cell phones after saying they successfully placed calls to them. anne-marie? >> marlie hall here in new york. thank you, marlie. crimea says they would declare themselves an independent state and that could defuse a standoff with the west.

then there would be no need for russia to control. he's scheduled to meet with president obama today. he wants the west to defend ukraine against russia. last night the house of representatives overwhelmingly passed a resolution condemning the russian military intervention. it also called for deployment of the internationals in crimea. there's ten days left until spring but this morning another massive winter storm system is moving through the midwest to new england. heavy wet snow is possible in iowa to western new york. up to a foot of snow is likely in indiana, ohio, and michigan. western new york and parts of maine could see up to 2 feet, and it's already showing in chicago where up to 8 inches of heavy snow is predicted along with near blizzard conditions. wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour are expected through this morning. the winter -- this winter, the city has gotten 75 1/2 inches of

snow. the norm is about 32 1/2 inches. the head of the senate intelligence committee charges the cia has engaged in possibly illegal opportunistic by interfering with the work of a senate committee. the cia says it did nothing wrong and now both sides are asking the justice department to investigate. wyatt andrews reports. >> reporter: the speech was both a surprise and unprecedented. dianne feinstein says they spied on the computer and important documents. she says they lied on the techniques including waterboarding. by snooping, the cia crossed the line. >> i have grave concerns that the cia's search may well have violated the separation of powers principles embodied in

the united states constitution. >> reporter: the director of the cia john brennan denied that the agency did anything wrong. >> as far as the allegations of, you know, cia hacking into, you know, senate computer, nothing could be further from the truth. we would don't that. >> reporter: but brennan himself disclosed in january the say iowa jency had conducted a search of the committee compu r computer. here's the thing. they have shared computers in norj virginia where they could access classified documents. last year the cia complained that senate staffers had hacked the system and copied a document considered off limits. that document called the internal panetta review because it went straight to former director leon panetta is said to be highly critical of the cia's program. senator feinstein said there was no hacking and the committee broke none of the rules. >> the document was made available to the staff at the

in san francisco a massive fire destroyed a high-rise building under construction. the fire consumed the residential structure, causing a collapse. it sent an enormous plume of black smoke into the sky. about 150 firefighters respo responded. one suffered burns to his face, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. well, a judge will decide whether two figures in the scandal ensnaring governor chris christie will have to turn over private communications. they say complying with the subpoena risks incrimination. alison harmelin looks at the showdown. >> reporter: she was at the center of this scandal over george washington bridge traffic tie-ups did not talk about the case as she entered court tuesday.

kelly's lawyer tried don vince the judge not to have her turn the over all e-mails relating to the closure access. it was political payback for a democratic mayor who refused to endorse christie. >> they're basically requiring us to incriminate ourselves. >> the legislative committee suspects there's more evidence than an e-mail from kelly saying, quote, time for some problems in ft. lee. >> once they show they have communications on the topic of lane closures, we think we have a right to everything. >> reporter: christie's former campaign manager was also a no-show. he cut ties and fired him back in january. so far there are no documents that directly tie the governor the scandal. >> reporter: the judge ruled as quickly as possible but she ghaith both sides more time for arguments. alison harmelin, cbs news,

a louisiana man wakes up free this morning for first time in decades. glenn ford spent 26 years on death row for a crime he did not commit. omar villafranca says new evidence led to his exoneration. >> reporter: after almost 30 years on death row glenn ford walked out of louisiana prison a free man. >> my mind is going in all kinds of directions. >> reporter: ford was charged in the 1983 murder of shreveport murder. an all white jury found him guilty. >> i was locked up for 30 years for something i didn't do. >> reporter: in court documents they found new evidence that would have changed the outcome of ford's trial. details were not released and a judge overturned his conviction. >> certainly i feel bad for him and certainly i feel sorry for him but also when you look at
