jim: back here in louisville, kentucky. a tie at the top. two americans from california. phil mickelson, currently ranked 13th in the world. rickie fowler, one better. one better than the world number one, rory mcilroy and world number four, henrik stenson. let's go to 13. >> stenson on the tee. tremendous par save at 12. 13, signature hole. layup off of the tee. there is the island green. safely in the fairway.
7:03 pm
two straight pars after a birdie at nine. jim: this can be a demanding tee shot. fowler. >> however demanding that it is . jim: you really have to be impressed with the way he is playing, peter. >> his composure is different. he is always fluid. he just seems to have a sense of calm over him. jim: i see it too. >> this was earlier. this is phil's. he has the first cut of rough. not much of a problem but he does have some mud on the ball. nick: you are right about rickie. he turned it up intentionally. his focus. his intensity is fabulous. jim: are we about to have three tied at the top at 11? >> i think so. look at the top four players.
7:04 pm
only three bogeys. 15-under. from 11 feet at the 11th. >> looks to me to be a double breaker go to the right. to start off with and at least straightening up at the end. nick: look at the determination after he played the shot, david. >> actually went left. >> to 13. >> stenson, 104. nick: a little scary off of a softer fairway. >> going right at it. look at this. nick: threw it over the flag. that back edge is only two more paces. whoa! yes. i thought so. >> maybe a mistake to the right of that hole location. jim: how about that reaction. phil looking anxiously here. nick: he chopped it way down the hill.
7:05 pm
>> i believe that was the mud on the ball from 207. nick: he looked a little -- jim: the same thing happened to him at the fifth. nick: i think that was the swing, peter. just a little sloppy through it. body gets there too early. jim: phil's flop shot coming up for his third. >> this is a demanding second shot downhill and then uphill to the green. anything short left would be a good play. nick: that is 360 degrees of rough. unusual. only one on the golf course. it is an island fairway down the bottom of the hill. basically it is an island green of green with rough all around it. >> brian jones officiating that group and helping rickie with the drop. >> rickie seems to have had a

7:07 pm
right in the middle of that green tower. jim: holding that finish like he loves it. it is not enough. >> he got that a little steep. that is the first time he has been a little on his left side today. jim: he has chipped in once already today. that came at the fifth hole. this will be an uphill prod for him coming up. mcilroy again, waits and waits. nick: just those extra few seconds as they walk off the end of the fairway. jim: you know one thing to note. they condensed these times at the end of the day. once play was resumed after the hour and 50 minute suspension. it has been a slow march, especially for rory who is a fast player.
7:08 pm
>> that is a huge point, jim. he slower that play will be. just a perfect tee shot. nick: rory just threw in there he hold off fade for that one. jim: let's go to 13. > stenson. nick: that was a little bold by his gesture, wasn't it. >> i don't think that he intended to go that close to the edge. nick: there it is. look. two more paces off the back edge and a hop and youre in. >> now a chance to share thel lead and his first birdie since going out in a 30.

7:10 pm
look at the open blade coming in. he is going to try to keep it level going through. catches it way up high. trying to keep the face open as much as possible and keep the lost on the club. he had to make his mistake long. jim: what is the degree of difficulty for this one peter? >> this is ok. lie is not too bad. jim: he could make a run at it. watch out. he has popped a number of putts from that length and even beyond. showing absolutely no nerve. o concern.
7:11 pm
that leaderboard is not updated with the stenson birdie yet. three are tied. phil yesterday on this very hole made bogey. the last bogey he has made now in this championship. just when it appeared it was back-to-back bogeys that perhaps he was starting to fade he then got that late spark and birdied 4 of the last 5. nick: i am go to add it to my list. the 12th is the third toughest, how about that. 14 the second. 15 the fourth. 16 the first. 17 the fifth. o this is the stretch now 5 of the next 6 the toughest on the golf course. >> you are full of all kinds of good news. jim: let's see if phil has good news from outside 30 feet.

7:13 pm
it is a championship venue. now this one can be ticklish, peter. >> yeah. this has to be hit with pace but it is a very quick putt. you can't guide this one in. nick: a couple of marks on the green. nope. he is fine. jim: so, fowler like he has been all year long. right in the mix at the majors. i don't think that anyone saw this coming though from long-range. phil for the four. lowers the hammer. nd rory watched it all unfold. who knows. he might even be thinking that was a three if he did not have
