celebrated following the court's decision. the court voted down the texas law saying it posed an undue burden to women. >> today, the supreme court sold out women. >> reporter: the law required abortion providers to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals. it also required clinics to have the same standards as outpatient surgery centers. >> it also lays the groundwork perhaps for some clinics that have closed because of readmitting requirements to reopen their doors. >> reporter: this is the first on abortion in nearly 25 years. the vote was 5 to 3 with justice kendi siding with the liberal bloc. >> it under scores the reproductionive freedom of women across the country. >> reporter: texas governor called it life changing. >> for the life of me i can't imagine the men on the court or the women on the court who said we think somehow if you want

abortion you deserve less standards than those if you were getting a broken leg. >> reporter: paula reid, cbs news, the supreme court. >> there are no reports of injuries following a large explosion at a natural gas plant in mississippi.at amoco bp plant is located in pass sa gore ra east of biloxi. police say there were employees there at the time, everyone is safe and it's unclear what caused the blast. well, more rain is possible in best virginia where recovery from devastating floodwaters is going slowly. last week floods are being blamed for more than two dozen deaths. one man said he saw a woman being swept away at the car. >> i saw her clawing at the window. it hit the bridge and i never saw her after that. >> some of the worst destruction was in the town of raynell

house to were damaged. there was also heavy rain and flash flooding in texas. the dallas-ft. worth area saw widespread downpours. that triggered running water that prompted one resident to grab an interview and float down the street. firefighters in california are making progress fighting nearly 20 wildfires burning in that state. the dry weather and conditions have been fanning the flames. the fire has burned over 45,000 acres. it is 45% contained, though. about 200 holmes have been destroyed. cadaver dogs are being used to search for more villes. the cause remains a mystery. it's been reported that condition of legendary tennessee women's basketball coach pat summitt has worsened. summitt suffers from early onset dementia, alzheimer's-type. family and friends are

british airways is trying to lure people to london. and chipotle serves up more. good morning. treasury secretary jack lew says he snees signs a financial crisis in this country following a british vote to leave the eu. but following the vote u.s. stocks lost about 5.3% of their collective value in just two days. the s&p dropped 36. the nasdaq fell 113 points. perhaps some good news, anne-marie, looking at the big board, futures are playing to a bit of a higher open, at least right now. british airways is trying to make the most of the brexit vote which sent the pound tumbling against the dollar. in a tweet, british air said it's time to take advantage of the brex exchange rate. the pound hasn't been this low against the dollar since 1985.

general manager paul wiedefeld said 500 jobs will be eliminated the next few months. wiedefeld does not specify which workers will lose their jo. some vacant positions won't be filled. he said the money problems are to blame. today is sentencing day for two codefendants in the murder of a local hotel bar manager. letter they were convicted earlier this year of murder. they face up to life in prison. in 2013 a bar manager was shot to death during an attempted robbery at a clarion hotel. the triggerman is currently serving a life sentence. pro choice supporters celebrating a victory. the supreme court struck down a texas law that required abortion clinics to have the same standards as outpatient surgery centers and admitting privileges at nearby hospitals. the court said it posed
