robert chambers was a handsome 19-year-old part-time college student who struggled with drugs. he met lech in a local bar and they left together. chambers claimed it was a case of rough sex gone too far and he was fight her off. "48 hours" aired the only interview with chambers in 2003. >> i swung my arm, struck her neck and pulled her off of me and to the side. >> did she speak again after she fell to the ground? >> no, i had never seen a dead person before. >> this is the left side of his face, a deep severe scratch mark and there's another long mark here. that tells us she was frantically fighting for her life. >> we revisited the case because it's still as relevant today as it was 30 years ago. it raises the question -- how safe are people. how well do you know people? >> chambers was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. the press labeled him the preppy killer.
