anne-marie green. well, this morning, wind-stoked wildfires have forced the evacuations in two popular tourist towns in east tennessee. a mandatory evacuation was ordered for downtown gatlinburg as flames and choking smoke swept through the area around the great national mountain park. an advisory was issued there, some areas nearby pigeon forge were also evacuated. police have been going door to door to warn >> the wind direction is swirling. we've picked up many embers and started spot fires. multiple trees began to fall, taking down power line which is caused other fires to occur. we are in the process of fighting multiple natural fires. >> the national guard has been mobilized. nearby, the dollywood resort was also evacuated last night.

a chartered jetliner with join people on board crashed in central colombia last night. a brazilian soccer team was on board but there are reports of survivors. officials say at least 75 people were killed. rescue operations have been suspended. the jet had stopped and went down in a remote other outside of the city. the crew declared an emergency due to an electrica crew members on boards. the soccer team was from southern brazil and scheduled to play a match tomorrow. a car and knife attack at ohio state university is being treated as a possible act of terrorism. we're learning more from the somali-born attacker shot and kill by police. hena daniels is here in new york. >> good morning, anne-marie. authorities in ohio are trying

somali refugee to carry out this attack at ohio state university. investigators say the attacker deliberately plowed his car into a group of pedestrians monday morning and then got out and began stabbing people with a butcher knife before he was fatally shot by a campus police officer. >> reporter: students at ohio state university came together in prayer last night. many had memories of monday's campus rampage fresh on their mind. >> kind of scary we couldn't get service in the basement. >> reporter: people on campus barricaded themselves in the classroom. moments before police say abdul razak ali artan intentionally rammed his car into a group of people outside. >> everybody was looking. >> reporter: authorities say the somali refugee then got out of the vehicle with a butcher knife and began stabbing onlookers.

but severe bleeding. >> reporter: university officer alan horujko was said to have ended the situation. he recently transferred to ohio state. law enforcement officials are looking into a post he allegedly made on facebook shortly before the incident. saying he was sick of the way muslims were being people not to rush to judgment. >> we don't know anything that would link us. we certainly don't have any evidence that that's the case. >> reporter: so far, officials have searched artan's car and apartment complex and they're investigating the incident as a possible terror attack. and those injured in the attack include an ohio state faculty member, four graduate students and three undergraduate students. all classes are back in session today. anne-marie. >> hena daniels here in

well, the officer who killed the ohio state attacker is being praised for his heroism and for his training. officer alan horujko is 28 years old. he received a bachelor's degree from ohio state and worked for the student safety service. leaders of the columbus muslim community condemn the attack. >> i'm an ohioan, an american, as muslims, tragedy and attack. >> they say the attack has nothing do to do with their religion and caution that the act of one individual should not further divide the community. coming up on "cbs this morning," more on the investigation on the ohio state university attack. president-elect donald trump is interviewing candidates for top administration positions today including another meeting with for secretary of state of mitt romney.
