good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. well, this morning a potentially paralyzing blizzard is taking aim at the northeast, hundreds of flights have already been canceled for tuesday. here's why. a blizzard watch is posted for coastal regions including new york city and long i land. where up to a foot of snow or foot and a half is possible. whiteout conditions plague south dakota. in minnesota travel was treachero treacherous. plows had a hard team keeping up with relentless snow. it's not just the snow people will have to deal with. the forecast also calls for powerful wind. meteorologist pamela gardner of our boston station wbz is tracking the storm. >> major storm as

but first we have one area of low pressure we're tracking across the upper plains and the great lakes where we could see several inks of snow fall. that's going to create a combined pressure creating a kind of blizzard condition as we have multiple warnings, advisories and blizzard watch and conditions expected from new york city all the way to southern new england. hour-by-hour timing? early tuesday morning the snow accumulation starts across maryland, pennsylvania, upstate new york, and then the snow continues to track through new england. and by tuesday evening, the system still is getting going in northern maine. now snowfall rates anywhere from 3 to 4, up to 5 inches per hour across the northeast. that means thunder snowe is a likely thing you're going to experience, and the wind is going to be cranking up as the snow progresses to the north and east.

that means numerous power outages and damaging winds. here it, everybody. major numbers. 12-plus inches of snow from philly to even new york city. boston, we could see anywhere from 12 to 18 inches of snow. but keep in mind the track of the center of low pressure still a little wobbly, so well ee have more forecast updates as we get closer to the storm. i'm pamela forward never for the cbs news. well, the house intelligence committee wants president trump to produce evidence by today to support his claim that phones at trump tower were tapped. also today the congressional budget office is expected to release its report on the house republican plan to replace obamacare inincluding estimates on how many people will be covered. the legislation is already dismissing the report. one day after, house speaker paul ryan

the documentary shows brown traded marijuana for cigarillos and was coming back to get them, not steal them. it's told from the perspective of michael brown's family. his mother joined the cast and crew on the red carpet in the south by southwest festival in austin yesterday. >> was surprised to hear two years later there was a video. >> the filmmaker claims the footage proves brown did not steal from the convenience store he was accused of robbing before his fatal encounter. the video shows him handing a bag. the 18-year-old walks toward the door and hands the bag back to the clerk before leaving. the director spoke with "cbs this morning." they say brown traded

michael brown shooting. >> and the police department is looking at one of its own officers. the suspect gave up but appeared to struggle when the officer tried to cuff him. the officer hit him with his first and then a flashlight. the use of force continued after another officer arrived. a large one-story commercial building went up in flames in the fashion district of los angeles last night. no one was injured and it's unclear what caused the fire. nearly 200 firefighters were on the scene. march madness is about to break out. we now know the 68 teams in the ncaa basketball tournament. >> out of the west, there they are. the northwestern wildcats. >> one of those teams is northwestern university, which has good reason to cheer. a longtime loser in the big t

well, miami is coming back to america with the top prize from a prestigious competition. the cocker spaniel won the crux dog show yesterday in birmingham. nearly a thousand dogs in 56 countries were entered. well, britain's kennel shows says the future could look different. they could be the last or they've breed. teri okita reports. >> reporter: at the annual crux dog show they put on a big spectacle for more than 160,000 visitors with the tv audience in the millions, but this year the uk's kennel clubs says some of the country's most iconic breeds are in danger of becoming extinct, dogs like this bloodhou bloodhound.

if you're heading northbound. live with breaking news from overnight. prince george's county police are investigating a fiery crash. an office was also hurt while trying to get the injured driver out of the car. this was the scene just before 1 this morning on indian head highway near audrey lane in oxon hill. the driver was traveling northbound when he crashed into another vehicle. his car rolled over and caught fire. the driver in the second car was not seriously hurt. the man accused of firing a gun inside the comic ping-pong northwest heads back to court this afternoon. edgar welch has pled not guilty after going to the d. c. pizza restaurant with a gun because he believed a child sex ring was operating in the basement after he read about it online. he's charged with assault with a deadly weapon, possessing a firearm during a felony and transporting that gun and ammo across state lines. port officisa
