good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at studio headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. later today president trump will unveil plans on what he says will be the biggest tax cuts in u.s. history. the proposal includes dramatic cuts to the tax structure. and a new tariff on canadian lumber not silling well across the bordeardboard. good morning, brook. >> good morning. there's a run-up on the 100th day in office which will be saturday. today president trump outlines the rough outline of their tax plan. we'll get a sense today of their priorities and some new lower tax rates. president trump works to fulfill another campaign promise today, overhauling the tax

easy, it will be fair. >> reporter: few details have been vealed but the white house says it will slash corporate taxes dropping the top rate from 35% to 15% and include cuts for middle income americans. >> the big question is how you do pay for this, do you pay for it, does it add to the deficit and will he package infrastructure spending with it to try to g across the aisle and try to get some democratic votes. >> and what the potential of the government shutdown two days away, there's funding that does not include mr. trump's long promised border wall. >> the fact that the wall is now off the table americans should breathe a huge sigh of relief. >> president trump stood by his promise before addressing the northern border and his decision this week to slap a tariff of up to 24% on canada's soft wood lumber exports. >> people don't realize

president and attorney general who either don't understand the constitution or choose to ignore it. >> the judge in california ruled the president has no authority to attach new conditions to federal spending. the decision will remain until the cases work their way through the courts. >> the leaders of the house oversight committee say former national security adviser michael flynn appears to have broken the law by not disclosing payment for a speech in moscow. they're looking to the comptroller of the army and defense department inspector general for a final determination. jeff pegues reports. >> reporter: when retired lieutenant general michael flynn travelled to moscow in 2015 he was photographed sitting right next to russian president vladimir putin and he was paid almost $34,000 to speak. house oversight committee chairman jason chaffetz says flynn may have broken

>> as a former military officer, you simply can't take money from russia. top democrat on the committee elijah cummins said it did not show the russian payments. >> he was supposed to get permission and report and he didn't. >> according to the law flynn should have sought the approval. flynn was the head of the intelligence agency during the obama administration and in a statement his attorney said his client briefed the intelligence agency, a kmoent agency of the didn't of defense both before and after the trip. flynn is one of several trump campaign representatives under scrutiny by the fbi which is investigating whether they coordinated with the russians during the 2016 election. he was fired as president trump's national security adviser just 24 days into the job after

this morn willing broadcast live from the white house on monday, may 1st. former george h.w. bush will remain in the hospital for a few more days. one of his doctors says he has recovered from any moanial but still suffers the effect of bronchitis. mr. bush is 92 years old and has been hospitalized since april 14th. some dry sunny weather but there are potentials from flood producing rain. areas of raleigh got more than 8 inches. rivers could rise and are expected to crest above flood stage. some roads vn be closed and school districts will delay openings this morning. here in new york city a tourist was hit by a piece of wood from a building. she was h

"time" magazine honored its 100 moat influential people last night at a new york city gala. they were described as pioneers, leaders, and icons. a among them tv anchor gretchen who settled a multi-million-dollar lawsuit with fox news. >> you take it and take it and take it and say, you know what? sometimes enough is enough. >> among those were norah o'donnell and charlie rose who made the 2014 list. fox news is accused of discrimination. those are some of the news head lines on the "morning news" stand.

the lawsuits claim fox management repeatedly ignored worker complaints about racial discrimination. a network spokeswoman denied the ail allegation. france 24 held a ceremony for a fallen police officer. he was killed last week when a gunman opened fire in the heart of paris. his partner told the crowd france must stay committed to piece. pope francis struck a hopeful tone in a message shown worldwide. the pontiff's video was screened at the tedd talks convention now under way in the city. it's the first time pope francis has addressed the international conference. researchers say it kept fetal lams alive outside their mothers until they could survive on their own. scientists hope it could be tried on human preemies within five years. and the "washington post" notes an embarrassing moment for supreme

also there is that gas work still going on, gas line work here in the 1200 block of mount olivet road in northeast. good morning, lar rir. >>reporter: good morning to you. today in south korea demonstrators are demonstrating against the military. military and police clashed near a road where they were carrying thermal high-altitude defense systems. the south korean government announced the installation of the american missile defense system just after north korea made another public show of its military strength. setting up this system has drawn a lot of criticism from north korea, china and russia where the system's powerful radars act as a security threat. today we'll see whether virginia governor terry mcauliffe has any reports about his wife as she's considering a challenge to barbara comstock. she represents virginia's 10th congressional district. dorothy mcauliffe confirmed her interest in the race yesterday during her visit to a manassas middle school. it would be her first bid for

we'll start with allison, though, a look at the end of the week, it's amazing too. >> oh, yeah. especially if you like summer weather. i know some people might say where's spring? we'd like that nice 70-degree weather. well, you know what? it take as while to kind of see things balance out. and sometimes spring is just that, really warm, then really warm, then really cold, it's hard to get those nice 70- degree days. so we're going to go from feeling like march to july in a hurry. today lots of cloud cover, but slowly increasing sunshine. here we are at 2:00, increasing sunshine by 6:00 lots of sun. temperatures will make their way into the low 70s, a big jump from where we have been the past couple of days, even above average. winds will stay to the northwest, it won't be as windy today either. a couple of sprinkles as you head out the door around d.c. and also along charles county and parts of st. mary's county. highs today pretty comfortable, but it does take until after lunchtime to really start to feel the benefits of that increasing sunshine. it will be much warmer. notice through culpepper and orange near 80 degrees. then you head to fredrick and gaitbu
