melissa, w' >> looks like another day with a few more storms, but today we're really not looking at the same threats we saw yesterday afternoon. man, the storms really blew up. we were waiting for all the clouds to clear out yesterday morning. they cleared out in the afternoon, and that set the stage for some strong storms. now, in the wake of the storms, they've died down at this point, but we've got areas of fog that are just forming from all of the water that's left in the grass and the soil. so look at this. we're looking towards reagan national. you can kind of see it's a little hazy in the background. we've got visibilities in some spots that have dropped down below quarter mile, so keep that in mind this morning. if you got rain yesterday, you're likely going to see a lot of fog on your way into work. 66 degrees right now, northeast winds coming in 5 to 10 miles an hour. humidity is up because we have fog that's forming. look at this, manassas, your visibility right now just a quarter mile, dulles 3/4 mile, gaithersburg also 3/4 mile. the national weather service hasn't issued a dense fog advisory yet, but i'm monitoring that because as we
4:27 am
get closer to sunrise to become more dense. now, when is this going to clear? what about the rest of your day? we're going to see the fog sticking around through 8:30, 9:00. as we get closer to 10:00 this morning, clouds are clearing out. this afternoon we'll have a few more popup showers and thunderstorms, not the intensity that we saw yesterday, but nonetheless still could see a stray storm going over your house. much nicer behind this front that we're tracking in here today. we'll talk about your forecast for the upcoming weekend as well coming up in a bit. ellen. >>reporter: yeah, definitely noticing that fog on the drive, for sure. we've had so many accidents. seems like they're all clearing. multiple problems overnight. now it's all looking a little bit better. 395 southbound between 10 and route 7, that's one of the area by king street where we had an accident. looks like it has now cleared. if you are down on the outer loop of the beltway in that same area it looks like we do have an accident. we'll get to that in a second. route 7 heading westbound sterling boulevard also another accident. that looks much better at this point. this is the one accident that's

4:30 am
er densest fog that we're dealing with this morning. now, as we go into, say, 9:00 this morning, the fog is going to continue to lift. by the time we get to the noon hour today, we're getting into a little bit more sunshine. 66 degrees right now at the airport. northeast winds six miles an hour. we got 60s heading out. you really don't need a jacket today. we're going to top out right around the low 80s. but we do have a few thunderstorms this afternoon. what's coming after those thunderstorms is a much more pleasant day on tap for us tomorrow. ellen, we'll talk about that forecast and the weekend coming up. >>reporter: we're getting so close to it, so close. i-66, we had trouble if you're heading eastbound. this was video actually taken by our assignment editor in the morning. overturned tractor-trailer, you can see it on side, 66 between route 50 and route 123. there was fuel spilled in this, hazmat did have to go out to the scene to clear that fuel. good news now it has reopened. so if you are heading in on i- 66, you should be okay. this is where that accident was east and westbound lanes
