good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters in new york. i'm hena daniels in for anne-marie green. isis claimed responsibility for saturday's deadly attack in londonist. police detained a number of people and on sunday arrested 12 others in an apartment where it's believed one of the attackers lived. at least seven people were killed when the terrorists used a rented van to run over people on the london bridge and then raced into a restaurant stabbing people before they were arrested. 48 others were wounded. 21 remain in critical condition. meg oliver is at the london bridge with the latest. meg, good morning. >> reporter: hena, good morning. it was a blady attack. but as you can see, london bridge has reopened

traffic and there's a steady stream of commuters making their way to work. they're walking by this makeshift memorial where people have been leaving cards and flower for the victims and then the chilling headlines like this, "massacre in the market." authorities in the uk continue their hunt for the accomplices rounding up two addresses in the region in kerkz with saturday's terror attacks. on sunday police swarmed an apartment building taking four men and several women into custody. a resident there said he recognized one of the three men killed by police after allegedly carrying out the attacks as his neighbor. >> he had a young wife from what i can see and two children, a toddler and a recently born baby. >> reporter: the suspected terrorists used a van to mow down pedestrians on the london bridge before mowing down people and stabbing people

borough market. >> i could see pure evil eyes. >> reporter: in the ebds a number of people and tourists would be dead including christine archibald of canada. this would come two weeks after they killed people at the arianariana grande in manchester. the pop star went back to manchester and took the stage during an emotional event raising money for the victims. back in the u.s. in his first public comment on the recent attack, president trump vowed sunday to protect americans from terrorists. >> we knew our resolve, stronger than ever before to protect the united states and its allies from the vial enemy. >> reporter: the didn't of homeland security says there's no credible threat to the u.s. at this time. e

the victims in this horrific attack. the canadian christine archie bard who was hit on the bridge with his fiance, he held her in his arms as she died. she was only 30. >> has the terror alert been raised in london? >> reporter: no, it hasn't. another attack is highly likely, however, the prime minister is holding a security meeting later today. that topic is likely to come up for discussion. >> meg, we see a lot of foot traffic behind you. >> reporter: hena, absolutely. everybody i've talked to say they're looking over their shoulder, they're a little bit cautious, however, they're defiant, and they're not going to let this stop them from getting back to work and returning to their normal activityings. >> meg oliver

thank you so much. charlie d'agata has more on the victim and efforts to stop the attack. >> reporter: the rampage that left scores of wounded in its wake may have happened in the heart of london, but the victims hail from around the globe. a canadian and the frenchman were amok the first confirmed deaths. australian candice hedge is recovering after being stabbed. american, british, german, and spanish are among the wounded. survivor accounts paint a gruesome picture of eight minutes that unfolded. gerard vowls said he just left the pub. he heard screaming. >> that's when i saw the three terrorists. they ran up and stabbed a woman,

nonstop. when they stabbed them, they screamed "allah." >> reporter: they did what they could, threw everything at them. >> i picked up a stool, a glass. >> reporter: the attackers were brought down in a hail of bullets. >> the cops came over. they were surrounded by police and shut them down. >> reporter: britain's medical teams responded quickly but the sheer number of victims suffering injuries sent them out to five major hospitals. >> reporter: mayor

condemned them. president trump said he'll do whatever is necessary to protect the united states. earlier he criticized london's mayor while trying to reasure residents about an increased police presence that there is no reason to be alarmed. president trump tweeted we must stop being politically correct and get down to security for our people. if we don't get smart, it will only get worse. the mayor's office responded that he has more important thing to do than reply to the president's ill-reported tweet that takes things out of context. his efforts to obtain $1 trillion in new investment in roads and waterways but the highlight is likely to be the scheduled testimony. former fbi james comey before the senate intelligence committee on thursday. committee members want to know
