fbi director james comey is expected to testify before the senate intelligence committee we're learning more about the relationship. he told jeff sessions he did not want to be left alone with president trump. that came after mr. trump according to comey asked him to drop the investigation, according to michael flynn. and the "washington post" is reporting that the president asked the director of national intense jens if he could intervene with comey on the russian investigation. weijia jiang with more on this. good morning, weijia. >> reporter: good morning, anre. he asked him to publicly state there was no collusion between russia and the state campaign. today they will be grilling him before they do the same to comey. president trump wished james comey well tuesday ahead of his highly anticipated testimony before the senate intelligence

committee. ousted fbi director is expected to detail his interactions with the president before he was abruptly fired last month. among them, that mr. trump allegedly asked him to drop the investigation before national security adviser michael flynn, an individual familiar with what comey told associates after that request told cbs news, comey asked attorney general jeff sessions to prevent him from being alone in a room with president trump again in order to protect the fbi from white house influence. while comey isn't expected to say whether the president obstructed justice, he'll likely address president trump's claim that comey repeatedly told him he was not the subject of the fbi's probe. the white house has yet to say whether the president will push back against comey's 278 by tweeting in real time. >> my guess is he's going to let the testimony play out and then respond to it some time later that day. >> reporter:

on capitol hill here tomorrow comes amid mounting tension between the president and attorney general jeff sessions. yesterday sean spicer refused to say whether the president still has confidence in sessions. >> i have not had a discussion with him about it. >> reporter: the president remains disappointed over sessions recusal over the ongoing investigations into russia. even though comey is expected to offer up details about the conversations he had with the president, he's not expected to draw conclusions or offer analysis. and, anne-marie, has not expected to testimony about evidence that's still part of the ongoing investigation. >> well, we will be watching. cbs news has learned that russian hackers may have helped spark the diplomatic crisis in the persian gulf. the fbi is assisting the cutter to investigation which involving planting a fake news story.

fbi director james comey asked attorney general jeff sessions to prevent him from being left alone with president trump. an individual familiar with the situation said comey wanted sessions to run inference with the white house in what comey thought were inappropriate requests for these meetings by the president. bill cosby's chief accuser took the stand in the sexual assault trial on tuesday. former temple university employee andrea constein testified that cosby gave her pills and then sexually assaulted her while she was incapacitated. cosby's lawyers say, though, the testimony was not consistent with what she said in a civil trial back in 2005. ariana grande is back on tour now for "dangerous woman" tour in paris tonight. the performer sus pemedded her concert following that suicide bombing in the manchester show last month. she came back to the stage on sunday headlining the one love manchester concert and that benefits the victims. country stars are getting ready for tonight's cmt
