good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters in new york. i'm meg oliver in for anne-marie green. at least four republican senators say the gop senate bill to replace obamacare doesn't go far enough as is, and they will vote against it. majority leader mitch mcconnell says he's open to discussion, but with no democrats to support the measure, the defection of just three republican senators would sink the legislation. weijia jiang is in washington with the details. weijia, good morning. >> good morning, meg. those conservative holdouts say they're also open to negotiation. you're right. the current plan is not a true repeal of the obamacare. he says he's very supportive of the senate version, but, of course, he doesn't get a vote. >> health care's a very difficult situation. >> in an interview with "fox &

addressed the four conservative republican senators with their refausal to get on plan and replace and repeal obamacare. >> they're friends of mine. we'll get there. i have to see. >> it eliminates obamacare's insurance mandates and its new taxes on the wealthy, but it retains a decent amount of obamacare tax credit to lower americans' insurance. with every democrat expected to vote no, republicans can only afford to lose two votes to pass the bill. >> we want the bill to look more like a repeal. >> the affordable care act was president obama's crowning achievement. he wrote a message on facebook urging republicans to preserve it. he wrote in part, quote, the senate bill is not a health care bill. it's a massive transfer of wealth from poor families to the richest people in t

it was in response to the committee where viis and democrats say they want an official statement, not a tweet. juliana goldman, cbs news, white house. the remnants of tropical storm cindy, now a tropical depression, continued to produce heavy rains as it moves through the southeast into the ohio valley. this morning flash flood warnings or advisories are posed from louisiana to pennsylvania. as it came ashore yesterday morning cindy spawned flood-producing rain and several tornados. one was injured when a tornado touched down near birmingham, alabama. a fast food store and liquor store were damaged. up to ten inches of rain were dumped on parts of the gulf coast. one death, a boy hit by a log is blamed for the storm. the americael

korea who died shortly after hoe was released was mourned by family and friends in his hometown in ohio. otto warmbier was buried yesterday. reagan messagegy reports. >> reporter: bagpipes played as he was carried in cincinnati where he spoke at graduation four years ago. many close friends were among the 2,500 mourners saying good-bye. >> he really, really just cared about everybody at the school. >> reporter: inside the service, warmbier's family displayed some of otoe's belongings including his passport and the jacket he wore during his trial in north korea. >> north korea needs to be held accountable for what happened to otto warmbier. >> reporter: warmbier traveled with a tour group in 2016. he was accused of trying to steal a prop began ta banner in a hotel and

years of hard labor. he was brought back home and died mochbltd warmbier was scheduled to graduate from the university of virginia this year. raegan medgie for cbs news, new york. this morning north korea denied it treated warmbier badly. the man who stabbed a police officer tried to buy a gun but couldn't. instead he bought a knife. there's no evidence he had any link with anyone in flint. he was a caretaker for an apartment building. he'll be due in court for tuesday. the philadelphia 76ers earn the first draft in the 2017 nba draft. >> for the first pick for the 2017

we begin this morning with breaking news out of northeast washington. a deadly crash closing all lanes right now on traffic on new york avenue and south dakota avenue. this happened just a little over an hour ago. one person is

several other people are hurt. we are told four vehicles involved. first it's a yellow alert day. the rain is moving in right now. >> we already have an unsettled pattern moving on in, so rain and a lot of it for this morning. it's not going to be rainy all day by any means. in fact, right until about sunrise, then things start to let up. here's our pattern for today and tomorrow. we are going to see some wet weather. we have two yellow weather alert days. right now showers generally just west of the city. heavier downpours as you head through winchester and lighter showers down 95 in parts of virginia. these showers are going to move through washington momentarily putting the storm track on it about 5:01. about a half hour light showers will move on in, and then we'll have

rainfall. leonard town is5:19. more about that crash right now, four cars involved in that crash. this is going to be on new york avenue. if you're coming in on route 50 you're going to see all lanes blocked on the eastbound and westbound side. a live look shows you how things are shaping up there. you can see the pretty overwhelming response there in northeast washington. it's going to have the biggest impact for those of you trying to make your way from areas like bowie into d. c. right now. you'll find that all the lanes are closed again on the eastbound and westbound side. you will need to seek an alternate route. in terms of delays, you're going to see significant delays around this area. we're not sure when this situation could clear up. expect that closure to be in place for a while. we're going to keep a close eye on it throughout the day. we are continuing to do well throughout all other parts of town, especially in route 301, keeping a close eye on no
