people, our people all working together. good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news head quarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. the girlfriend of las vegas gunman stephen paddock arrived from the philippines early this morning. we now know that paddock transferred $100,000 to the philippines in the days before the attack. they say paddock extensively planned it including setting up cameras to watch the police. the death toll remains at 59. president trump will visit las vegas now and mola lenghi is in las vegas now. mola, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, anne-marie. authorities are hearning more about how stephen paddock carried out the shooting massacre, but the critical question remains a why.

his first time confronts a mass shooting situation as president of the united states. las vegas police have released body camera footage. the shots were coming from up high. >> they're shooting right at us, guys. everybody stay down, stay down. >> reporter: as president trump gets ready to meet with survivors, investigators are learned more information how the shooting unfolded. these are photos from inside stephen paddock's hotel room. police say he fired on and off from between nine and 11 minutes, he had bump fire stocks, illegal. pad tock also brought surveillance equipment. >> there were two cameras located in the hallway so he

hurricanes that struck puerto rico, texas, and elsewhere. $16 billion would be for blood insurance relief. in puerto rico, the death toll from hurricane maria jumped to 54. president trump visited the struggling island yesterday. most residents are without water two weeks after the storm hit. the president downplayed the destruction and praised the effort calling the recovery nothing short of a miracle. david begnaud is in san juan. >> you don't need them anymore. >> reporter: president trump seemed unaware that 94% of the island is still without power. he handed out supplies like prizes, lobbing paper towels into the crowd. flanked by the crowd, he was joined by the first lady. the trump administration has been criticized for a slow response following hurricane ri

shooting has arrived in the u.s. from the philippines and police say she is a person of interest in the investigation. we're going to get the latest out of vegas in a moment. first here is miri with a quick look at your forecast. miri. >>reporter: good morning, everybody. we're starting off with cool conditions and clear skies out there. temperature right now, it is 59 degrees. as you can see that temperature outside is really cool as we start. we've got 50s and 40s across the area. high temperatures today a little bit warmer. we'll see the highs right around the 80-degree mark in most areas today. so here we are at 4:30 p.m., you see the low 80s, upper 70s out there. wins are coming in from the south and that's the key to help us warm up today as we take a look at that future trak. we'll also notice a chance of showers coming in by friday. notice how we have those clouds increasing in the area. we're going to get a little bit warmer on thursday in the northern suburbs. a cold front comes through the area. it could give us a slight chance for a shower in the northern suburbs. the rest of us should remain hay until the weekend when we

>> a lot of times my brother could make me smile with his humor. he liked to goof around with people that he felt comfortable arn. if he saw that it was bad, he would -- i was sad, he would tell a joke to make me feel better. >> no charges against the officer. the family says they do not believe the shooting was justified. former president and ceo of equifax is going to testify in front of the senate banking committee today about that hack that put the data of 145 million americans at risk. richard smith got a public scolding at a congressional subcommittee hearing yesterday. he says he's taking full responsibility for that hack and he believes both technology and human errors were responsible for it happening. when you get behind the wheel today, pay some extra attention. that is because it is international walk to school today. you might see a lot of students on the roads, crossing the streets. there are a lot of schools participating, including arlington, prince george's county as well as well as the district. that's a look at what's going on.
