new gun legislation. mourners in las vegas lit candles for charleston hartfield overnight, the off-duty officer killed in the las vegas shooter. 58 advices line the las vegas strip, a tribute to all of those killed at the concert by stephen paddock. investigators are looking into what led the 64-year-old to open fire. officials say he may have had his eyes on other large outcoor events with large crowds. >> until they can actually complete this investigation, we're not going to know what was on his mind. >> the massacre in las vegas has some republicans here on capitol hill open to the idea of banning the piece of equipment the gunman used to make his semiautomatic gun fire like a fully automatic one. senator dianne feinstein has

paddock's girlfriend about his this morning tropical storm nate is off the coast of honduras. it's headed toward the gulf of mexico and expected to reach the us gulf coast over new orleans over the weekend. nate is blamed for at least 22 death. the state has declared in louisiana. hollywood power broker harvey weinstein charged "the new york times" with reckless reporting after the times reporting he sexually harassed women for decades. weinstein has taken a leave of absence from his company. elaine quijano has details. >> reporter: the sexual allegations against harvey weinstein stretch back 30 years with some as recent as 2015, according to "the new york times." one of his accusers, actress ashley judd told the paper that two

multiple sl beverly hotel, asking if he could give her a massage or watch her take a shower. she thought, how do i get out of the room as fast as possible without alienating harvey weinstein. the times says eight women say he engaged in inappropriate behavior, that included being nearly naked, requiring them to be present while he bathed or repeatedly asking for a ma salk or initiating one himself. he's released at least eight confidential settlements with women. the paper says most received $80,000 to $150,000. in a written statement to the times, weinstein said, o quote, came o of the '60s and '70s when

"the wall street journal" reports russian hackers stole nsa data on u.s. cyber defense. back in 2015 hackers reportedly working if the russian government stole details of how the u.s. penetrates foreign computer networks. they also accessed how the u.s. defends against cyber attacks. the hackers targeted an nsa contractor who took the classified material home and put it on his personal computer. the "los angeles times" says california has become a sanctuary state in a rebuke of president trump policy. governor jerry brown signed legislation yesterday extending protections for immigrants living in the u.s. illegally. the bill limits who

at the request of federal immigration authorities. it goes into effect january 1st. "the new york times" reports on the justice department's ruling that civil rights law doesn't bar transgender discrimination. yesterday attorney general jeff sessions says the law bars workplace discrimination between men and women but does not extend to gender identity. the rule reverses policy. boston street corporation agreed to pay $5 million to settle federal allegations that it paid female executives less than their male colleagues. the company says it disagrees with the allegations. still to come, you'll have to pay more for your netflix show. we'll show you how the video
