good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. at least seven people were injured when a louisiana oil rig exploded. rescue boats are scouring t ini ponchartrain. it exploded last night. the platform is used to transfer oil. cleaning chemicals reportedly ignited on the rig, and it's unclear if oil is leaking into the lake. and this morning firefighters say they are finally making some progress against the deadly wildfires that have ravaged northern california. some of the evacuation orders have been lifted but the danger is far from over. at least 40 deaths are blamed on the files and

buildings have been destroyed. seth lem p has more. good morning, seth. >> good morning, anne-marie. now as people are getting the all-clear to return home, they're not finding much to go back to. it's been one week since massive wildfires started burning their way through northern california. fire officials say they believe they've finally turned a corner thanks to dying winds an more personnel, they're starting to gain control over some spots. >> they're not going down easy, but we're getting them, and we feel a lot better about that. >> reporter: officials say two of the three most destructive fires are now more than half contained. some residents are finally being allowed to return to their homes. 68-year-old

up. rescue crews still searching for a missing man near new orleans after an explosion on an oil rig injured 7 last night 8 people were aboard the rig at the time. one person did not make it to shore. coast guard officials have yet to release that missing man's name they are still trying to figure out what caused the explosion. in somalia, a massive truck bomb killed more than 270 people, 275 others have been injured. the explosion appeared to target a hotel on a busy road, police suspect the terrorist group al-shebab is responsible the deadliest attack in the country's history and one of the worst ever in africa. tropical storm owe feel yeah expected to make -- ophelia expected to make land fall today. it is the farthest east a major hurricane has ever el
