57 newsroom here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. at least eight people were killed when a man drove a crowded truck down a bike path. it's the deadliest in new york since 9/11. the suspect sigh full lowe saipov is in sear use condition. he drove down the bike path for nearly a mile. he crashed into a bus near the world trade center. police believe he acted as a lone wolf and they say there is no evidence to suggest that this is part of a wider plot. hena doba is at the scene in manhattan with the very latest. good morning, hena. >> reporter: good morning, anne-marie.

may have been involved. like you mentioned, despite investigators believing he is a lone wolf, the suspect is a lone wolf, security has been stepped up throughout the city. overnight investigators continue to comb the scene for evidence in the deadly terror attack in lower manhattan. a federal law enforcement source tells cbs that a note referencing isis was found inside the vehicle used to run down several people. >> be advised there are several people on the ground. i've got multiple casualties. >> they say sayfullo saipov, a native who came from kaz beck

he then collided with a school bus injuring two adults and two children. >> he exited the vehicle brand issuing two handguns. they confronted the suspect and shot him in the abdomen. police say they turned out to be a payment gun and-- paint gun a pellet gun. >> hours after the shooting they converged on a new jersey home depot where he is believed to have rented the truce used in the attack. >> they believe he acted as a lone wolf and not as part of a terror plot. nypd officers have been deployed throughout the city. now we know the suspect was shot in the stomach by the police

expected to survive. >> hena doba in new jersey. thank you. we're learning more about sayfullo saipov. it's believed he first lived in ohio before moving to florida. he was a commercial truck driver, formed a pair of businesses in ohio. he was known to be recently living in new jersey where he rented the truck he used in the atta attack. he also drove for the ride-sharing company uber and they say he passed all background trips. of those killed, five were from argentina. they were in town celebrating their 30th anniversary of their high school graduate. another from belgium was also killed. trump tweeted he's sick and not from the usa. he also tweeted i

people when he drove a rented truck down a popular bike path near the world trade center. nearly a dozen others were injured. we're going to head to foreclosure for the latest on -- to new york for the latest on the attack in just a moment. first let's go to miri for a look at the forecast. >> good morning, jan, good morning, everyone. if starts off chilly out there and cloudy. temperatures down to 43 in leesburg and there's still time for those temperatures to fall this morning. and we will see the high temperatures right around the 60-degree mark in most areas with clouds and drizzle possible at times. throughout the day you get a gradually warming because of that cloud cover we really won't see those temperatures spike. don't worry. the big warmup is on the way. we'll go from 50s and 60s today to 70s tomorrow around the region. so we'll show you that coming up. ellen >>reporter: miri, it's a really nice start to your wednesday morning traffic. just construction out there really. there are two areas where you're going to see some more closures than normal. the first one is up in maryland just close to 95, route 1 heading northbound between the beltway and

one lane closed here through the beltsville area. also 95 southbound. so, again, what most of our traffic is doing in virginia, you may be heading down to fredricksburg this morning, there is some pretty significant construction right by centerport parkway. that might slow you down a little bit. and then 395 heading northbound, we still have our construction on the h.o.v. lanes. this morning it's between little river turnpike, duke street, all the way up to gleeb road is where you're going to see that difference up here. so that is about all that's going on with traffic this morning. we just have that construction. however, anything to ease the congestion on i-95 in virginia, that's good news for the commuters, right? the brand new express lane extension in north stafford for drivers heading south opened up last night. now, the northbound ramps will be open early this morning. sky 9 was actually over the scene of the new flyover ramp. the extension will operate under the say rules and reversal schedule as the current 95 express lanes. >> ellen, thank you. 4:27 is your

right now. a terror attack virtually in the shadow of the world trade center killed eight people when a truck drives down a bicycle path. thanks for joining us, i'm jan jeffcoat >> i'm larry miller. a lot to get to this morning out of new york, but we're starting here at home with a look at your weather forecast this morning. and already getting off to a bit of a cool start, miri. >> absolutely. november starts as it should, on a chilly note. temperatures in the 40s across most of the area. we just dipped to 39 in fredrick, but it is 43 degrees in gaithersburg. if you are heading out in the next hour or two, this is what you'll experience as you're heading out. by afternoon a little warming, not very much because of the cloudy conditions. temperatures 57 to 62 degrees, winds out of the northeast now, but eventually they'll switch in from the south, so that's going to help to warm us a bit, but not very much because of the cloud cover. with this type of weather we usually get drizzle, light precipitation, and that's
