dr. jon lapook with us. jon, what's all the excitement about? >> every year half a million people in the united states have a stent inserted to open a blocked artery supplying blood to the heart. now this can be life saving in people having a heart attack or nearby heart attack. but many people get a stent just to relieve angina or chest pain. a small study with 200 patients with anginablocked artery. half got a stent. half did not. in six weeks, no significant difference difference when it came to chest pain or how long they could exercise. how effective are stents in relieving chest pain. >> what does this mean to patients? >> stents can be living saving. it challenges basic underlying assumptions how effective the stents are and if it turns out this hold up in larger studies it could change the way we treat paesh ent patients with angina. >> dr. jon

this 'tis the cbs "overnight news." sources tell cbs news, new york city police have brought prosecutors new rape allegations against hollywood mogul harvey weinstein. jericka duncan has the latest. >> the actress says in october 2010 harvey weinstein offered to give her a ride home to her new york city apartment after a party because the two lived in the same neighborhood. she says weinstein insist they'd have drinks. the pair eventually ended up inside her apartment. that's when she alleges weinstein took off her dress and forced himself on her. i speck oke to her by phone. >> he pushed me on the bed.

welcome to the "overnight news." i'm jericka duncan. took the wraps off the overhaul of the u.s. tax code. president trump wants it pushed through congress before the end of the year calling it a christmas gift for the american people. critics say that timetable is far-fetched and the odd of the bill passing in its current form, are equally long. the plan would slash corporate taxes eliminate several tax brackets and drive the debt by $1.5 trillion. just an estimate. nancy cordes as more. what they promised a great product. law makers were jubilant today. extraordinary. awe extraordinary.

of the world. ♪ ♪ >> they had no idea what they were walking into. cbs news has new details of the october ambush in niger. that left four american soldiers dead and their bodies stripped. they were part of a larger force of u.s. and nigerian troops on reconnaissance mission on the border with mali where islamic terrorists are then to travel. at some point their orders changed and the soldiers were force to camp outside for the night. the pentagon has said little about what happened next. so our debora patta went to the ambush site in niger for answers. >> reporter: the village of tongo-tongo so remote, escorts had trouble finding the road to get there. this is where the 12 member
