a point and also on north korea. president trump and president trump xi talked. here he struck a rather different tone. >> i don't blame china. after all, who can blame a country for being able to take advantage of another country for the benefit of its citizens. i give china great credit. but in actuality i do blame past administrations for allowing this out-of-control trade deficit to take place and to grow. >> secretary of state rex tillerson later said what trump said with some tongue in cheek to it. he said the chinese understand they have more to do to open

2k3w50ds. on north korea we're told the two sides agree kim jong-un should not be allowed to have nuclear weapons. they're committed to u.n. security council resolutions that curb trade with the north but tillerson said those sanctions could take some time to work. from here president trump continues on to vietnam for an economic summit. earlier on he said he might meet with president vladimir putin. but tillerson said the meeting will only take place if the two have something in common that would take place. >> thank you. this morning republicans unveil their tax bill. there are expected to be some significant differences between the senate tax plan and the one proposed by house republicans. key issues. it would eliminate the deduction they can take for state and local and propert

they retain the deduction only for property taxes up to $10,000. and authorities in texas are reviewing video from inside the first baptist church the morning a gunman killed at least 26 people. vice president mike pence visited with families and attended a memorial service in suggester land springs last night. good morning. >> good morning. they're looking at how the suspect got his hands on weapons leading up to the attack despite several red flags. there was a memorial service heard last night in sutherland, texas, for those killed in the church shooting. mike pence showed up after wrapping up the day's events with a show of support from washington.

the american people are with you. >> reporter: earlier in the day they talked about the shooter and the things leading up to stream despite several red flags. he was also convicted in a court-martial of two charnls ge assault. >> we will find out why this information was not properly reported in 2012. >> reporter: as more about the victims is being released we learn that among those kited eight children and teenagers. paul was among the first ems workers to respond. he said after seeing what was inside that church, it's clear the shooter was determined to inflict as much damage as possible. >> he went after everybody. everybody. whoever he missed was by accident. >> the attack was caught on videotape by the

regularly recorded its sunday service. authorities are now reviewing that footage. u.s. officials confirm the attacker's cell phone which they're still trying to access was an iphone. they have not yet asked apple for any help. anne-marie. >> hena doba here in new york. thank you so munch, hena. if you travel by air, you may find this next report a little troubling. it's a report on the failing of security. jeff pegues has that story. >> they found continued problems with procedures. they say possibly over 70% of the time explosives and weapons were able to get through check points. just two years ago testing found a 95% failure rate. house homeland security committee received a classified briefing on the report. here's what chairman

marshall to see how cold things are going to get. >> you know i'm trying to contain my excitement. i love cold fronts and i'm really excited about this one that's heading our way. but first we have scattered showers out there this morning across the area. and we'll continue to see this off and on-type of shower activity throughout the day. this morning, there are showers over chantilly and fairfax and they are pushing into washington right now. a closer look in shows that we have those showers just along 50 around washington forest. these are moving toward georgetown and howard university and reagan national. light showers, not even worthy of yellow weather alert but be aware as you are stepping out this morning. this is how the rest of your day pans out. 7:30 in the morning is cloudy out there with temperatures in the 40s. and you are looking at some scattered showers on your way to work so there could be a few wet roads out there. then throughout day you notice those showers are just off and on and sort of hit or miss, some areas will get clouds and other areas will actually get a sprinkle or two on the windshield. te

are driving hem, 5:00 this afternoon, the scattered showers are still there. so you may also run into a few slick spots on the way home with high temperatures today right around the 51-degree mark. ellen? this was why i love hanging out with you. trying to contain your excitement about the cold front. trying. >> it's great. >> all right if you're heading out this morning we have a closure on georgia avenue in northwest. the closure is between long fellow street and jefferson street in northwest. there's some police activity going on out there and what we've heard from police it sounds like this closure probably going to be in place for at least part of this morning rush hour. so expect this to be here for a while on georgia avenue. also southbound on 59, we have construction -- 95 we have construction by route 216. thank you so much. breaking news overnight d.c. police are investigating a deadly shooting in northwest. which has kept georgia avenue shut down between long fellow and jefferson streets. they did find one person dead inside the lucky corner market. then at 8:30 kennedy street offices found -- oftens found a second man with several gunshot wound. he is in the hospital and we're giving you a live look at the scene right now. you ca

cordoned off that area there still a lot of police activity. and investigators do say they have recovered two handguns which they believe were used in the crime. so far, no arrests but we can expect that -- that area along georgia avenue to be shut down for quite a few hours while police continue their investigation. again, that is between longfellow and jefferson streets. time right now 4:38. it is nighttime in china where president trump and the first lady were treated to an elaborate welcome ceremony in beijing. >> the president and china's president have been meeting in the great hall of the poem where they discussed -- people where they discussed trade and north korea. >> the entire civilized world must unite to confront the north korean menace. and the entire world is watching us right now. >> and south korea wednesday, president trump called on all responsible nations to do more to isolate kim jong-un's regime. he said countries that enable the north will have the nuclear
