good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs headquarters in new york. i'm anne-marie green. this morning there's a search after a powerful earthquake hit the area last night. more than 300 people in both countries were killed. more than 2,800 people were in injured and most of the injuries were in iran. >> good morning, man re. the 7.3 magnitude quake was centered along the northern border between iran and iraq. magnitude 7 quakes are capable of widespread heavy damage. the worst damage seems to be in the mountains of western iran. the quake was so powerful it was felt as far west as the mediterranean coast. most of the victims are in a

where the main hospital was severely damaged. some villages lost power and communications. now rescue efforts are being hampered by landslides. there is extensive damage on the iraqi side of the border as well. one health minister described the situation as very critical. now, following the main quake, at least 50 aftershocks have been reported. iraq sits on a fault line and is prone to frequent earthquakes. m anne-marie. >> thank you so much. there was another earthquake near the capital of san jose. power lines were locked down and rock slides are blocking some roads but no major structural damage. minutes later a powerful aftershock shook the area. this morning president tru

doctor larry nassar sexually abused her. she was 13. other girls have said they were abused by that doctor. the z"the san diego union tribune" reports on a collapse of a platform that injured ten children. it collapsed saturday while dozens of people were on top. 21 children and two adults were taken to hospital with minor injuries. "the miami herald" reports on self-mutilation a. people with a history of drug abuse and alcohol abuse as well as self-mutilation, depression, and bipolar disorder can seek waivers to join the army. and variety

investors here on wall street are waiting to see what the senate will do with the tax bill. so far the house committee opposed the bill from them. a quick check of markets. for the week, last week the dow lost 115 points, the s&p 500 fell 5 points, the nasdaq ended 14 points lower. uber agrees to a multi-billion dollar investment with a japanese company softbank. softbank wants to own at least 14% of the ride-hailing company. it also clears the way for uber to sell stock to the public. an initial ipo is expected before the end of 2019. the first big sale at the dubai show. they're being 40 american made boeing 787 dreamliners worth over $15 billion and a blow to rival airbus.

killed at least 300 people. a suspect in critical condition after a prince georges county police officer shot him. it happened late last night in the 6200 block of newton street

right now. good morning everybody. thanks for joining us. i'm jan jeffcoat. >> i'm larry miller. hope your day starts off good this morning. it's going to be wet out there. mary has a first look at your week weather forecast. >> good morning. your drive is wet out there. 41 degrees cloudy with showers falling across the area. this is what we are looking at this morning. a bulk of the rain is shifting to the east, light showers to our west and moved up to the north. let's talk about where we are seeing rain around the area this morning. we do have showers across washington d.c. and some of our virginia suburbs. the rain is shifting out of virginia so you'll be one of the first people to get a break from showers relatively early. you do have a light shower there moving over to the east around the oakton area and fairfax and we also have showers over spring valley and georgetown moving towards howard university and the pentagon heading to those areas pretty soon
