good morning from the studio 57 on the cbs newsroom. i'm anne-marie green. the senate bill may be in trouble. wisconsin's ron johnson says he opposes the tax bill and he may be just the first. hena doba is here with more. good morning. >> good morning, anne-marie. they believe it favors corporations over small businesses and became the first republican senator to say he opposes his party's tax bill while democrats insist this is a plan to make the wealthy wealthier. the house is expected to pass today the most comprehensive tax bill in decades. >> we're cutting taxes from low to middle income families.

cut. >> unlike the senate republicans' proposal which brings health care in by eliminating the obamacare mandate t house bill doesn't touch that. like the senate bill, the house bill would permanently slash the corporate tax rate and cut individual rates across the board. house minority leader nancy pelosi had a rally against the bill wednesday insisted the changes are aimed at the wealthy, not the poor and middle classes. >> the list of disgraceful cuts go on and on. why? to give tax breaks to the corporations in america. >> president trump, who will be on capitol hill talking with representatives today responded via twitter. why are democrats fighting massive tax cuts for the middle class. jobs. >> some have objected to

deductions. that will hurt those in high tax states like new york and california. there don't appear to be enough republicans against the measure, though, to sink it. a vote on the senate's bill is expected after thanksgiving. the two chambers would need to reconcile the bill before sending them off to the president. president trump has been pushed to hit a final by the end of this year. >> hena doba in new york. thank you so much, hena. two more women have come forward concerning roy moore. state officials met last night but did not vote on whether to pull the support. in answer to senate republican leader mitch mccome who said moore is not fit to serve, moore tweeted, dear mr. mcconnell, bring it on. his lawyer is challenging one of the accusers. >> an attorney f

held a press conference, calling for release of a yearbook the latest accuser said he signed decades ago. >> judge moore said there's no way it was his hand wright. >> moore called her a sweet beautiful girl as she detailed how the assistant district attorney tried to rape her when she was 16. late wednesday two more women had issues with moore, one who said he grabbed her in 1991 when he was married. another claims he tried to take her out in 1982 when she was in high school. >> not one time have i ever seen him act even remotely inappropriate against any woman. that's the man that i know. >> nelson's attorney gloria allred is now demanding moore testify before congress about the allegations against him. republicans here on capitol hill just want him to drop out of the

left. a dangerous patient who escaped from a psychiatric hospital from hawaii has been captured but authorities haven't figured out how saito was able to buy an airport ticket from the hospital. anna werner reports. >> hawaii's governor david ee guyed a mitd -- his escape should have never happened. >> his flight to freedom ended when california sheriff's deputies took him into custody. the 59-year-old man authorities call a psychopathic predator escaped from the hospital sunday morning. he was last seen heading to breakfast. instead saito somehow walked to a park and called a cab. dash cam video shows him getting in, carrying a backpack with supplies including a

>> what time does your plane leave? >> 10:30. >> reporter: he took a chartered flight to maui where he was able to get through security under an alias and board a flight to san jose, california, with a ticket apparently booked online from the hospital. it wasn't until two hours later on sunday night that the hospital reported him missing. in 1979, saito stabbed a woman in the face with a pellet gun and then stabbed her to death. he was found. in 2016 it successfully prevent him from getting day passes out. hospital administrators can't explain explain how he escaped on sunday. also hard to explain is how he managed to get ahold of a back pack and cell phone he

carrying and the money to pay for two airline tickets. they released two videos of a man they say is the subject of four shootings. an african-american male with a thin build. the three victims killed in october were either getting off or on a city bus or were at a bus stoop when they were shot. the reward is up to $91,000. and a pilot for southwest airlines was arrested for having a loaded handgun in his carry-on luggage. he was detained at the tsa checkpoint. the pilot did not have a concealed weapons permit. southwest said they're aware of the situation and is trying to gather more of the information. coming up on the "morning news," the army pushback.

"usa today" reports the army says the paper on sunday says it caused it to rescind recruits. the army's chief of staff said the memo was issued by a person who did not have the thought to change poll. the "los angeles times" reports charles manson is back in a california hospital but the severity of his illness is not known. the 83-year-old cult leader and mass murderer was rushed to a hospital in bakersfield. it's the second time he's been in the hospital this year. the lack reports a man

well, pictures of treasury secretary of state steve mnuchin and his wife posing with a sheet of one dollar bills are getting a huge reaction on social media. a lot of people commenting how they looked and posed for this photo. the first bear the mnuchin signature. they've come under criticism before because of their lavish spending. on the "cbs moneywatch" now, the fcc is set to vote on net neutrality and amazon offers turkey discounts. diane king hall is at the new york stock exchange with that and more. diane, good morning. >> good morning, anne-marie. let's start with this. investors continue to keep an eye on tax reform efforts in washington. the market suffering its biggest loss since early september. the dow slumped 138 points, the s&p 500 fell 14 point, and the

the federal communications commission is expected to vote next month to overturn the net neutrality rules. they classified them as if they were utilities and limited providers' abilities to block, slow down or fasten websites. it would spark billions of additional prospects. the companies are trying to avoid massive recalls. both automakers petitioned safety regulators to escape recalls involving more than 3 million vehicles. they contend the inflaters don't affect their cars. amazon is lowering prices at whole foods. they're e-mailed prime minister members for a coupon for turkeys 50 cents cheaper than others.

the start of some serious rangling to try to get it to the president's desk. let's get a first check of your weather with meteorologist miri marshall. good morning. >> good morning, jan, good morning, everybody. 40s to start. we're waiting for the cooler air to arrive. temperatures 48 in washington and 46 in gaithersburg. as the cooler air comes in, we'll see those temperatures staying in the 40s and 50s through the morning, and then by the afternoon 50s and 60s, upper 50s by noon and right around 52 by 5:00 this afternoon. so we did get some showers overnight. you probably slept through it and the rain currently is pushing over to the east, so we're not expecting any more rain today. with high pressure moving in, we'll actually see a bit of sunshine by the afternoon. look for those highs today between 57 and 62 degrees by this afternoon. it will be mostly sunny and breezy out there. look for those west/northwest winds at 10 to 20 miles per hour. larry. >> miri, thank you so much. we start with breaking news this morning. prince george's county police are investigating the

a driving gun battle. shortly after midnight officers got reports that two people -- people in two cars were shooting at each other, and when they got to white house and largo roads they found two cars that crashed. now, police say three suspects tried to run away from the scene, but all were arrested. now, two were hurt in the crash, but they're expected to recover. however, that crash is expected to cause some major problems on the roads. ellen bryan is here right now to see what exactly this impact is going to have on the morning commute. >>reporter: larry, initially when we came in we thought, oh, white house and 202, largo road could be really impacted. sounds like it's not going to be an issue at all. 202 completely open, all lanes look good, not impacted by the crash. white house road we had a crew out there that went by the scene, he said you still see some of it. that's a section that's shut down between route 202 as you're passing by, but it looks like it might be clearing here shortly. we'll keep watching it. we do not have a live

an area our photographer can actually pull over. we do have the live picture? okay. so that would be white house that's closed right now, 202, again, largo road is open. >> ellen, thank you so much. developing this morning, police have a bit of a clue in their search for a serial killer in tampa, florida. >> investigators have released grainy video of a suspected killer in that murder that happened this past week. here it is right here. now, at first this man had been called a person of interest. but now police say they think this is who killed the latest victim, a 60-year-old man who was shot to death early tuesday. the first three victims were all killed in the same area last month. the reward is now up to $91,000. and closer to home, police in fairfax county are reconsidering what they thought was a murder-suicide in mclean. now investigators are looking at whether this was actually a double murder. >> what a twist this is in the case. back in july police found the bodies of 63-year-old pamela hargin and her 23-year-old daughter helen. they were inside the family's

warrants show that detectives think the crime scene may have been altered and staged, and that another daughter, megan hargin tried to carry out wire transfers from her mom's account around the same time as those shootings. also this morning, there are still more questions about the tense situation in zimbabwe. the country's long-time dictator and his wife are being held by the military. >> the army is said to have taken him into custody for his own protection from other corrupt government leaders. on the streets it looks like the military has pulled off a coup. and that's a quick look at what's going on this morning. the news at 4:30 starts right now. a police detective in baltimore on life support right now after being shot in the head on the job. we'll have more on that momentarily here. thanks for joining us, i'm jan jeffcoat. >> i'm larry miller. already a busy start to the morning already at 4:29 this morning. >> that's right. let's talk about the weather forecast today. a few sprinkles trying to

the move, larry. they are moving over to the east as we get a cold front to approach the area. meanwhile, with winds still out of the south, it is mild out there. we are waiting for that cooler air to arrive, so not as chilly this morning at the bus stop. look at these temperatures, 46 in leesburg and 48 degrees in washington. throughout the day you'll find those temperatures up to the upper 40s by 9:00 a.m., 58 by noon, and then temperatures back down to the low- to mid- 50s by 5:00 this afternoon, so there's the rain that's associated with the front. you can see those showers have moved over to the east. the ground is already dry in d.c. the further east you go, you will notice the roads are still a little bit wet, but they will be drying out pretty soon. so highs today 57 to 62 degrees. by afternoon, i know you see those clouds now, but with the high pressure coming in, it will be mostly sunny and very breezy. look at those northwest winds, 10 to 20 miles an hour. ellen. >>reporter: all right, miri, we have an update on this closure. largo road, route 202 is fine there. it is white
