2017. this is the cbs morning news. sexual harassment claims multiple women accuse legendary journalist charlie rose of unwanted sexual advances and lewd behavior. the u.s. government blocks a multimillion dollar merger between at&t and time warner setting the stage for an epic legal battle. and sometimes real life is stranger than fiction. >> we run into plenty of strange things doing this job but elephants on the side of the interstate is a new one.

>> good morning from the studio 57 news room at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie greene. cbs this morning coanchor charlie rose apologized following a report in the washington post in which eight women accuse rose of sexual misconduct. pbs stopped the distribution of his nightly interview show and rose has been suspended by cbs news. cbs news said in a statement these allegations are extremely disturbing and we take them very seriously. hena is here in new york. >> rose posted on twitter that he is deeply embarrassed for his behavior. three women spoke on the record accusing the legendary journalist of groping with them, walking naked in front of them and relating an ere rottic dream. >> charlie rose is the latest high profile man to face sexual abuse allegations. the woug post is reporting eight women associated with

program are ayccusing himg of sexual harassment between the late 90s and 2011. two said while working for him at his home or while traveling on business he came out of the shower and walked in front of them with no clothes on. one claims he groped her buttocks at a holiday party. >> the women worked at charlie rose inc. not here at cbs or pbs nor bloomberg where his show is taped every broadcast. >> he's been suspended by cbs where he cohosts cbs this morning and contributes to 60 minutes. pbs and bloomberg are also suspending their distribution of the charlie rose show. i am greatly embarrassed. i have behaved insensitively at times and i accept responsibility for that. though i do not believe that all of these allegations are accurate. cbs also says rose will remain suspended while it looks into the er

against the justice department's anti trust lawsuit monday blocking the company's $85 billion merger with time warner. >> when the government suddenly discards decades of legal precedent, businesses large and small are left with no guide posts. >> announced last year the deal would give at&t control of time warn warner's massive portfolio. federal officials argued the merger would be unfair to consumers saying it without quote, mean higher monthly television bills and fewer of the new emerging options that consumers are beginning to enjoy. >> the record of evidence before the doj could not be more clear and convincing that there is no harm to competition and there is no harm to consumers. >> some proponents of the merger believe the doj lawsuit is an effort by the trump administration to harm cnn which is owned by time

trump vowed to block the deal if he won the election. >> it's too much concentration of power in the hands of too few. >> earlier this month members of the president's justice department told at&t that for the deal to go through the company must sell cnn. >> any agreement that results in us forfeiting control of cnn whether directly or indirectly is a nonstarter. >> a justice department official says the white house played no role in its decision to challenge the merger in court. cbs news, the white house. the border patrol agent who died investigating an alarm in west texas may have fallen. the body of officer rogelio martinez was found at the bottom of a 14-foot culvert late saturday. his partner survived the fall but he can't remember what happened. a border patrol supervisor says reports that the agents were attacked are speculation. president trump was one of those who called martinez's death an

tillerson says putting north korea back on the terrorism blacklist is a very symbolic move, but it could also close a few loopholes in the imposed sanctions. president trump made the announcement yesterday calling the north a murderous regime. >> in addition to threatening the world by nuclear devastation, north korea has repeatedly supported acts of international terrorism including assassinations on foreign soil. >> north korea joins iran, sudan and syria on the blacklist. the north had been on the list for two decades but was removed in 2008 in an effort to save talks to halt its nuclear efforts. the trump administration is ending temporary immigration status for some 60,000 hatians. the refugees have been living and working in the u.s. since a massive earthquake hit haiti back in 2010. they have until july of 2019 to prepare to go home. advocates for the hns

conditions on the island have not improved enough for the hatians in this country to be deported. and so far no comment from the justice department after a federal judge permanently blocked president trump's executive order cutting funds to so-called sanctuary cities. the suit was brought by san francisco and santa clara, california. sanctuary cities limit cooperation with u.s. immigration authorities. the administration had argued that the order applied to a relatively small amount of money. the judge ruled the order threatened hundreds of millions of dollars. and at least one worker was killed by a pair of explosions and fire at a cosmetics factory in new york state. the factory is located 5 miles north of new york city. the first explosion happened yesterday morning. >> i was sitting at my desk and i kind of thought it was just lightning or something. it was just a big bang and everything kind of shook. >> up to 35 people were injured including seven firefighters ug

a judge is reprimanded and a new development in a trump charity investigation. the washington post reports that trump golf course has reimbursed the president's charitable foundation amid an ongoing investigation. a new tax filing shows the trump national golf club in new york state paid back more than $158,000 to the donald j. trump foundation this year. it was reimbursement for money that had been used to settle a lawsuit against the club. bloomberg reports white fish energy is halting work to restore power in puerto rico over an $83 million bill. the tiny montana based company says it's stopping work ten days early because it hansn't been paid. white fish lost a no bid contract to rebuild the island's storm ravaged power grid. less than 47% of the power capacity is back up. the new york times says officials in argen

the subwith 44 sailors on board disappeared in the south atlantic six days ago. a huge international search is underway. the argentina navy says sounds detected by ocean probes yesterday did not come from the missing sub. the houston chronicle reports police are patrolling airports in the area with ar-15 rifles. police at bush intercontinental and hobby airports have stepped up security during the busy holiday season by carrying high powered rifles. airports across the country are increasing security in the wake of recent mass shootings. the tennesseean reports a state judge was officially reprimanded for reducing jail time for inmates who received a vasectomi vasectomies. a federal lawsuit says 43 male inmates underwent va

>> the good morning. the latest quarterly report gave stocks a boost. investigators are feeling more optimistic about the economy and prospect for holiday shop and so the dow gained 72 points. the s&p ended the day three points higher. the nasdaq added nearly 8. yellen says she's resigning from the board once her successor is sworn in. president trump decided not to offer her a second term. the resignation means mr. trump has a chance to fill five of the seven positions of the federal reserve during his first year in office. oil pipeline, they say they are not done yet. regulators approved building the pipeline through the state but it's five miles longer than the one owned by excel canada. it would carry

and nebraska. more legal challenges are expected. uber is making a big move into owning and operating a fleet of cars. the ride hailing company plans to buy up to 24,000 self-driving vehicles from volvo. uber's own autonomous driving system will be paired with volvo suvs. if uber buys all 24,000 cars it would be the biggest sale yet for volvo which plans to make the vehicles at its factory in sweden. and for a lot of people in new york city part of the holiday tradition is watching the balloons for macy's thanksgiving day parade being inflated but this year extra security options are in place. it will end two hours earlier at 8:00 p.m. and anyone attending will be screened. the park will be shut down at noon. no backpacks will be allowed and police officers will be stationed at every corner. >> diane

here's a look at today's forecast at some cities around the country. it took about 12 seconds and nearly 5,000 pounds of explosives to reduce the georgia dome to rubble yesterday morning. the dome opened in 1992 and was the former home of the informnf atlanta falcons. it's being replaced by the

stadium right next door. one of the most difficult things for seniors to do is to stay in their homes as they age. it is just not safe for them, but some simple changes can help people live in their houses safely for many years. >> reporter: at age 77, beverly bennett says she's starting to struggle on the stairs at her new jersey home. >> i want to grow older here, but i want to keep my independence. >> reporter: so she hired a contractor to help her make her house safer, something he says adults of all ages need to consider. >> we all put things off. important things like this need to be addressed immediately. >> reporter: holder people have the highest rate of homeowner ship in the country according to the joint center for housing studies at harvard. managing director says many homes are poorly equipped for disabilities later in life. >> they need three things. no steps to get into the house, no steps to go up and down when you're in the house and hallways

no one was hurt and roads that were closed because of the blast just reopened. and developing this morning, a change on the set of "cbs this morning" at 7:00 a.m. later this morning, the show will air for the first time since eight women accused co- host charlie rose of sexual misconduct. hey good morning everyone. we are off to a cool start out there with temperatures in the 30s and 40s on your tuesday morning. this is what we're looking at today. high temperatures 56 to 60 degrees. by the afternoon it will become partly cloudy and breezy with winds out of the southwest up to 15 miles per hour. now this is what it looks like if you are traveling today. you want to get an early start on that thanksgiving travel? look for clouds to start by 4:00 today. and then it's not until later on tonight after 10:00 or 11:00 that we have to worry about showers. this is futurecast at 11:00 p.m. showing the showers now models do favor them a couple of the models favor them staying mostly south of d.c.. but there's that possibility that if you are going to be traveling south or east
