and say how could you not remember? this is a man who prides himself on a lot of details. he insists he doesn't. >> he says he has a long way to go to gain the trust of minnesota voters and he'll work very hard to do that. what are they saying in minnesota about senator franken? >> you know, gayle, i thought about something you said last week in the aftermath of the charlie rose allegations where you said, how do you wrap your head around it when somebody you care about does something that's bad. for his supporters, for his supporters, i think that's where we're at right now. there's a group of 65 prominent democratic women who came out yesterday and say they support him. that is a big deal. >> he says he has no intention to resign. >> he has absolutely no intention to resign. >> what about the allegations that he may have touched someone's back during a picture. as a political reporter, i see many times the senators pose for

and that surprised even some democrats. >> john conyers is an icon in our country. he's done a great deal to protect women. >> democratic leader nancy pelosi was cautious sunday when asked about allegations against michigan's john conyers. >> do you believe -- >> i don't know who they are. they have not really come forward. >> you don't know if you believe the accusations. >> that's for the ethics committee to review, but i believe he understands what is at stake here and he will do the right thing. >> hours later conyers announced he would be stepping down as the top democrat on the house judiciary committee though he vehemently denied the allegations. nancy pelosi followed with a more forceful statement. the house ethics committee opened an investigation into a pair of allegations against conyers last week including revelations that

$27,000 to settle a complaint. that staffer said she was fired for refusing conyers' sexual advances. legal documents published by "buzzfeed" news detail multiple allegations by female staff members of unwanted touching and romantic advances. one of his anonymous accusers has released a statement through her lawyer asking to be released from her confidentiality agreement. she says if conyers can speak freely about what did or didn't happen, then she should be able to do the same, vlad. >> nancy cordes, thank you very much. alabama senate candidate roy moore has new confidence from president trump but democrats still want moore to quit the race following allegations of preying on teenage and young women. >> the best thing roy moore could do for your the country is move on. >> if he whips, get the

mt. agung started spewing ash into the air. people within six miles of the volcano were told to leave the area. >> 445 flights were canceled as ash filled the i'll ask. around 59,000 travelers were stranded. officials sent 100 buses the airport and ferry terminals to pick up the stranded passengers. nearly 500,000 tourists visited there last week. lonnie quinn is here with the volcano's impact. good morning. >> good morning, everybody. the key is to figure out what's going on underneath mt. agung. since its last eruption in 1963, molten rock has been building up. it generates a lot of heat which generates a lot of pressure. it pus

of the volcano and the eruption will happen when the pressure gets so great it's forced to blow out of the top of the volcano, and a little of two months ago, the threat level of the eruption was raised and more than 100,000 people have been evacuated. number one, big increase in earthquakes around the volcano, and number two, the sides have gotted is big they're starting to bulge. besides lava, a huge threat will be flow. that's a mixture of steam and ash and rock and searing gust and what makes it so dinchsing it moves a heck of a lot faster than lava. 450 miles an hour down the side of the volcano. they go for miles. the last one stretched eight miles from the crater.

papal advisers have warned francis of even saying the word over concerns it would set off a diplomatic incident. he'll also visit bangladesh where there over 600,000 rohingya refugees have fled. there are reports on the deadly and addictive effects of smoking. a federal judge said that the tobacco industry lied, misrepresented, and deceived the american public about the impact of smoking for more than 50 years. some local spas in a popular massage chain are facing allegations of sexual assault and that they have mishandled those claims. an investigation by "buzzfeed" report that over 100 women have accused workers at massage envy of groping

meg oliver has more. >> good morning. they have done over 125 million still, they say, one incident is too many. it's reported there have been multiple complaints that the company mishandled. >> i was really in a state of shock, disbelief, fear. >> reporter: susan engel said her fear turned into a sexual predator during her seventh visit with him at this massage envy location in 2015. she said it started when james dieter started rubbing his groin against her. he lifted up my body, groped both of my breasts roughly and aggressively and put his hands down on my lower body. >> reporter: too disturbed to report it personally, she reported it when she came home. >> she said in a very scripted

in. >> reporter: she's one of more than 180 women who have filed sexual assault suits. there have been reports against the spas, their employees, and the national company. over 100 massage therapists groped their genitals, breasts, or other explicit violations. "buzzfeed" reporter katy baker. >> what stood out to you the most in your reporting? >> i think the descriptions of the sexual assault claims were very horrific, but to me it's awful to be assaulted when you're in a very vulnerable position. but for some women it's worse to go and report what happened to you and not have it taken seriously. >> reporter: according to "buzzfeed," massage envy only requires franchises to conduct internal investigations of abuse claims except in a few states that require notification of local law enforcement. >> i found that these massage envy spa empye

allegations of complaints on their own. >> reporter: they have over 1,170 locations and serve more than 1.5 million members nchl a statement they say we're constantly listening, learning,ing a looking at how we can do more. >> it should be something that they train for and have an understanding of how they're to respond. >> reporter: after ingram filed a formal police report, dieter pleated guilty to sexually molesting a total of nine female clients and is now behind bars. citing court records, busy "buzzfeed" say two of those women tried to warn the spa about dieter before ingram had. >> it needs to stop. they need to protect, apologize, and to do the right thing. ng

go into this labyrinth of steps they have to take that can take up to a year to settle these claims, and if members decide to publicly release this information about the settlements, that would be a bigger change. i think we forget. they're not beholdened to the same. that would be a big change that would help settle this. >> let's switch gears and talk about the deputy director. she filed a lawsuit to block president's appointment of mick mulvaney. >> yep. >> what are you hearing on capitol hill? >> he defended the agency. they will stand with this new deputy director in her lawsuit, but republicans and the presidents certainly don't like it. tom cotton, the republican senator called it an unconstitutional agencagency. >> what about this to-do list? >> it's long. >> 12 legislative days until
