she was waiting for her dad to take her to school this morning. that's when tacoma park police say two men tried to abduct an 8-year-old girl. this happened on pine and elm avenue. police still looking for the men and their mini van. stephanie ramirez is live in tacoma park to take us through this. hi stephanie. >> hey adam and you know this is the girl's first day back to school. this is an important reminder to talk to your kids about stranger danger. police are also giving her some props. >> ronnie partner said she would have been out walking this morning had it not been for the cold. i'm really impressed that the kids know what to do. that this girl was so brave. she closed the door on the guys. >> tacoma park police say it was between 9:05 and

morning. an 8-year-old girl was near a mini van with two men inside. according to the 8-year-old police say the passenger opened the door and said come to my house i have candy. >> it was something that since i remember my mother telling me about the dangers of people offering you anything. >> that's when police spokes person cathy mrefy says the girl pushed the door and ran back inside to get hope and then there's more. >> the 8-year-old told police the man who opened a passenger door had a flower tattoo on his left hand. wore a hoop nose ring and she also described seeing a pimple by his left eye. >> such good identifying marks that someone probably knows who this person is. >> i'm still really shocked. i wouldn't consider that a possibility here. >> now we're told that mini van was last seen driving in the direction of john nevens

this video. anyone with surveillance video who may have caught this activity call police. >> that is not the kind of scare we need to start the new year. stephanie thank you. the gray mini van also had dents under the rear passenger side window and it may have had d.c. tags. this afternoon marked the first time we got to see sean andrew dunkin in court. john henry joins us from alexandria where dunkin's court hearing just occurred. >> yeah, so today's hearing was relatively short. we didn't hear about the punishment that could be heading dunkin's way. on top of that he may have to pay a $250,000 fine. he's charged with obstruction of justice. when the fbi raided his home

said they learned he had destroyed a thumb drive and memory chip. they needed that evidence to investigate dunkin's alleged ties to the islamic state. he had recently converted to islam and approved of the beheading of westerners. far from the course according to his neighbors back in pittsburgh. he moved to pittsburgh back in june. one woman told us our sister station rather that show could not believe the allegations against him. >> what i wonder is why was he here to begin with. why did he come. if they were already planning something for around here. >> now neighbors say 21-year-old sean andrew dunkin also had a wife who lived with him in pittsburgh. however, at this moment we have not been told of any charges against her. we will have a lot more

dunkin's past according to his neighbors. he's scheduled to be appear back here in court. police in prince george county say they have arrested a husband for an attack on his wife. investigators say he stabbed his wife elizabeth mendez in their home on 38 place in brentwood. they believe this happened after the couple got into an argument. relatives told us mendez recently moving here from guatemala. three montgomery teenagers are staef and sound after being rescued from their car. it got stuck in an icy stream crossing in this arctic weather last night. on old west baltimore road. rescuers had to use a boat rather than risking hypothermia in the water. one driver gave it a try for
