in calfornia, police in sacramento arrested a man they say was traveling to syria. investigators say the man lied to them about it. in texas, police arrested another person in houston. lawmakers say these arrests may have prevented a terror-related event. new tonight, iran is close to complying with a controversial nuclear deal with the u-s. according to secretary of state john kerry, the country is just "days away" from satisfying their end of the deal. if iran holds up their end, the u-s and western nations would have to immediately suspend many sanctions on the country. secretary kerry says the country shipped out most of its enriched uranium last month. that dramatically sets back its nuclear program. new tonight, reaction after alabama's chief justice tells judges to enforce the state's same-sex marriage ban. cheif justice roy moore issed the administrative order yesterday. it was to stop judges from issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples. this is video of marriage

who want to preserve the current map. a fire alarm and fights disrupted the school day at i-c norcom high. as students evacuated the building in portsmouth a fight broke out-- and that led to other fights. school officials say there were some minor injuries-- and order was restored fairly quickly. turns out, there wasn't a fire-- and classes resumed after order was restored. rescue crews still can't believe it. that the driver of a tractor trailer survived running off the chesapeake bay bridge tunnel. chopper 10 flew over the 49 degree water, as crew pulled 33-year-old matthew killmon to safety. police say killmon tried to pass an 18 wheeler and ended up taking out 200 feet of guardrail before his rig went into the bay. crews threw him a life ring until boats could rescue him. he suffered a broken arm, cuts and hypothermia. an outcome that doesn't happen often. that i know of that we actually had a live victim" police say they do plan to charge killmon. we're told precon marine out of chesapeake will recover the truck and trailer, that will most likely happen saturday. in the meantime work to repair the guardrail has begin. tonight elizabeth city police say they've captured the inmate who escaped from washington county. we've been following this story since this morning. officers found 29-year-old heather burton hiding under a bed inside a home. she went to court for a parole violation yesterday-- and fell down the stairs as she was leaving. police took her to the emergency room-- and that's when she escaped. her mother said a police officer had threatened her daughter, and that may be why she putting her in the ambulance those were her words to me mom he put his hand around my throat and told me what he was going to do to me so i was scared, i'm scared, i don't want to go back there. i will die before i go back there :37

daughter was fighting a heroin addiction, but wanted to get clean for her child. we are learning more about the impact some macy's closings will have on hampton roads. we reported last night the chesapeake square, peninsula town center, and in norfolk's military circle locations will be cut. nearly 3-hundred employees are impacted. the company c-e-o cited disappointing sales last year as a reason. this comes as no surprise to leaders we spoke to. in norfolk, it means an opportunity 2:38:56 we beleive that we have a mix of retail but we also have a real opportunity with teh amount of acreage involved to increase our business base dramatically - its a great central location for that. also to bring in new residential communities and other uses from a residential perspective. read complete statements from officials in chesapeake and hampton on wavy dot com. new tonight-- police are looking for two serial credit card skimming suspects.

these pictures of the suspects. they say the pair stole credit card numbers to purchase gift cards at the walmart on north main street and in franklin last month. if you recongize them-- call the crime line. thieves are targeting pricey air conditioning units in hampton. police say crooks stole nine a/c compressors, in two incidents in the last week. this is the damage left behind at the riverdale office park, off cunningham drive. seven units were ripped a part there. air conditioning professionals tell us: the copper and other metals can be sold for scrap. but it cost upwards of one-thousand dollars each to replace the systems. super = traci gray/dental office employee ((c403 37:25)) "i had actually mentioned to my office manager they can't continue to leave time, sure enough we took a closer look, the copper is gone. everything that's salvageable to sell is gone." the second incident

10 on your side's liz palka is live there now. and liz, this gas station has been targeted before? nicole and tom- it was robbed less than a week ago. police are now investigating how and if the incidents are related. i can tell you both times the suspect struck during the day and had a knife. except this time - someone was hurt. c5 1:35 - there was cops on every street that i turned. they were just everywhere. the helicopter was all over the place. virginia beach police outside this diamond springs road citgo. a scene melissa reid has witnessed twice now in one week. this time - only an hour after she was in the convenience store herself. c5 4:26 - when you just run into the store get a pack a cigarettes a soda or whatever you don't think my life could be in jeopardy. it's not something that crosses your mind. police responded to a call for a stabbing at the citgo at about 12:20 thursday afternoon. they found an employee who was cut on the arm...but is expected to be ok. reid said she saw

for the suspect. again, they said he had run in that direction behind the gas station toward the driftwood apartments. call police if you know more. liz palka, 10 on your side. norfolk police are looking for a man they think robbed and shot a clerk at a 7- eleven on chesapeake boulevard. officers think 38-year-old kevin bristow is in this video -- and that he employees before shooting one of them wednesday morning. we're told the clerk is out of the hospital. it's the same 7-eleven where police say someone less than an hour before that -- someone also robbed 7-elevens on redgate and colonial avenues. officers have not said if any of the cases are connected. 10 on your side contacted 7-eleven after last night's hold-ups. their response reads in part: "every 7-eleven store in the united states is

dozens of sea turtles are back into the gulf of mexico tonight. crews released them in florida. these kemp's ridley sea turtles got lost on their way south last week because of the cold water, and needed a little t-l-c. after a few days of warming up-- they were ready to head back out. 22 other turtles are still in rehab, but they should get released soon. new tonight, federal officials say they'll remove manatees from the endangered species list. the u-s fish and wildlife says the mammals should be reclassified as "threatened." it cites improving population numbers and says the move would not reduce protection measures for the species already in place. conservationists argued it the move should not just be about the numbers. they say more than 24 hundred manatees were killed between 2010 and 2013. a public

item, to students who owe money. a high school in indiana served this, to kids who owed more than 25-dollars on their meal accounts. one student says the cafeteria worker took a tray from another student and handed her the sandwich and a milk. many students and parents feel it could have been handled differently. (s/sierra feitl - high school student:11) "i think the worst part was, they did it when you were paying, in front of everybody else, so if you didn't have the money that you needed in your account, everyone got to see that." butt to (s/shannon mccoy - parent:09) "it doesn't matter how much a parent makes or what's on their lunch account. don't ever feed my kid just bread and cheese. that's just not right ." the superintendent said the policy does not apply to students who qualify for free or reduced lunches. school officials say it follows federal regulations and is similar to other districts in indiana. it was put in place after the district had to pay 50-thousand dollars in unpaid meals.

sugar. the federal government set a limit on sweeteners added to products such as drinks, soups, and sauces-- in its nutrition guidelines. it says to limit added sugar to just 10- percent of your total calories for a day. the term "added sugars" does not apply to what's naturally found in fruit. the government says its working on new food labels that would clearly show added sugar.
