religious liberty as a corner stone of our democracy. we would recognize the importance of the separation of powers and honor the constitution in its entirety and, yes, that includes the second and tenth amendments. we would make international agreements that were celebrated in israel and protested in iran, not the other way around. and rather than just thanking our brave men and women in uniform, we would actually strengthen our military. so both our friends and our enemies would know that america seeks peace, but when we fight wars, we win them. we have big decisions to make. our country is being tested, but we've been tested in the past, and our people have always risen to the challenge. we have all the guidance we need to be safe and successful. our forefathers paved the way for us.

president discussed his education, small business and fighting isil. the president did not mention our top story tonight: the fact 10 navy sailors are in iranian custody. we've been following the story all day -- 10 on your side's liz palka is in the newsroomon now. liz? tom and nicole - we did just get some new information. these sailors are from a squadron based in san diego. top u-s officials continue to say soon. the sailors will be safely and quickly released in the morning. take a listen to this from white house press secretary josh earnest. nn01t 55:03 - us authories have been in touch with iranian officials who have confirmed for us a couple of things, first they've confirmed that our sailors are safe. and they have assured us that our sailors will be allowed to resume their journey. here's where everything is happening. the middle of the persian gulf near farsi island. we understand ten sailors are involved. nine men and one woman. this is where the two boats and those on board were picked up by iranian

forces after having mechanical issues and drifting into iranian waters. u-s officials say these are riverine boats. this video is from stories we have done in the past with squadrons based in our area. they are small, heavily armed, fast boats with about five people on board. according to the associated press...the sailors are part of riverine squadron one out of san diego. and they were deployed to bahrain. ships and aircraft attached to the locally based uss harry s truman carrier strike group searched the area for the boats after contact was lost. all this comes after an incident in late december. that's when iran launched a test rocket near multiple u-s ships, including the truman. secretary of state john kerry has spoken to his counterpart in iran to ensure the sailors' safe release. we will update you as we get any news on the situation. i'm liz palka, 10 on your side. all new tonight. a portsmouth councilman faces a

recent rule -- that keeps officials from discussing city business. 10 on your side's liz kilmer was at tonight's council meeting for the announcement. liz, how did he react? tom nicole it certainly was- councilman bill moody waved a wad of cash during tonight's meeting- explaining to the public that he's been fined 15-hundred dollars for violating a new policy that he called a threat to transparency in government we told you about that amendment this passed fall- it prohibits city leaders andcouncil members from publicly discussing or leaking information discussed during closed city meetings. councilman moody told the public, during tonight's council meeting that he has been cited for a facebook status he posted prior to a closed session. he waved his money twice- first saying here's 15-thousand for the fine, and here's another 15-thousand for future violations. he pledged to continue speaking out- and called this new rule a threat to transparency and an
