may have fired them. back to our big story from portsmouth. city council has met again. it's the first time since an heated meeting two weeks ago. fined councilman bill moody 15-hundred dollars over a facebook post. they say business with the public, which violates a code-- that year. on top of that, sheriff bill watson charged mayor kenny wright with a felony. minutes after the meeting ended, watson says the mayor led him on a chase, refusing to address an expired inspection sticker. 10 on your side's liz kilmer sat in during tonight's meeting with what went down. packed house with several explosive moments one woman expressed disappointment in what she called destructive and malicious behavior from certain leaders. a room so packed, folks had to stand during the portsmouth city council meeting tuesday. the first since conflicts among top officials

arrested ammon bundy. he's been leading a group of armed ranchers that took over federal land in oregon. we have confirmed reports of shots fired - and now one person dead. we are still working to learn who fired the shots. a virginia beach veteran has taken on a new role in the resort city. city counil named dave hansen the new city manager tonight. they say he has spent ten years working for the city, and he had a 30-year military career. hansen takes over for former city manager james spore. he retired last month after 24-years with virginia beach. new information about a couple of planned projects in virginia beach. tonight, city council planned to discuss a proposal for the 15th street pier. mayor will sessoms says leaders will be working with the developers and the public to make it happen -- sessoms on 15th street pier proposal - clip 48 about that do i know if the numbers will work yet? i don't.

private group has asked to re-develop the area between 14th and 16th streets at the oceanfront. we could see a new pier, hotel, restaurants, and more parking. it would cost 245-million. the mayor also discussed plans for a fitness park at the oceanfront. city council did not approve the project when they voted on it earlier telling people not to give up hope. feeds fitness park 17;06;40 i'm happy to say some of the city staff has been working to find another location -- and hopefully with everyone on board supporting it. a virginia beach non-profit offered to donate the park -- just like this one in santa monica. it would have gone on the sand near 40th street. republican frontrunner donald trump says he will not take part in thursday's presidential debate.

school remember her. some hadn't seen her in years as she's been living in atlanta. but you can imagine their complete shock when they saw she was killed. c21 42:22 - there's no words to describe it. none. kristin mcmanus couldn't believe it when she saw this familiar face on her tv tuesday morning. c19 38:35 - immediately as soon as i saw her picture, i got chills. and i was trying to figure out, why she was on international news. :41 she recognized the smile immediately. her friend from high school: jessica colker. mcmanus and colker had gone to tabb high school in yorktown. graduating in 1994. this was not the type of update she wanted to get on her friend, whom she hadn't spoken to in years. according to police...colker was murdered sunday while on vacation with her husband in grenada. c19 38:56 - to know that i knew this person from high school was just beyond words, i couldn't describe it even at that time. :02 colker has since moved to atlanta where she worked as a physicians assistant for children's healthcare.

naval medical center san diego. this morning the military spread the message everyone there should run, hide or fight due to reports of shots fired. the navy combed the campus for hours, after an employee reported hearing gunshots. military police say they found sign of a shooting. the military has awarded a purple heart to a marine recruiter in tennessee. sergeant demonte cheeley received it today. he was hurt last year, when a shooter opened fire on a recruiting facility in chattanooga. the shooter also attacked a navy reserve center -- killing five servicemembers. the military plans to award them the medal posthumously. somehow he became the center of an ongoing joke about his death. tonight, it's a reality. a look back on the life and career of actor abe vigoda. help is on the way from chesapeake to flint. how a local business is doing its part to help with the water crisis in that michigan city-- and how you can

breaking news from virginia beach -- police dispatchers say officers are investigating a robbery with shots fired tonight. they say it happened on bonney road near south independence boulevard. dispatchers say it it started when one person tried buying a cellphone from two men. they say the men robbed the would- be-customer -- who tried to shoot the suspects as they ran away. they say no one

refused to go to the hospital. the so-called zika virus has made its way to virginia, but health officials haven't said exactly where. the state health department says a traveler brought it back-- but wouldn't say where that person had visited. it's going around 20 countries in latin america and the caribbean. the c-d-c has been warning pregnant women against travel to the affected areas. zika is transmitted through mosquitoes-- and may cause birth defects. health offiicials say the affected person does not pose a threat to other virginians -- since it's not mosquito season. the c-d-c has issued warnings against traveling to zika infected areas - which could affect your plans. a local business is trying to give clean water to those in desperate need.
