we start off tonight with breaking news from hampton a robbery suspect is dead tonight after being shot. 10 on your side's liz palka is where everything took place. liz, what have you learned? was shot and is in the hospital. all after a robbery at this business. the front of it just says gift card atms with a hand painted sign. police telling me that is the business that was robbed...and where the

happened. this is where the details get vague. sgt. matt bond with hampton police says the robbery happened around 6:20. a suspect was shot in the process by someone inside the business. police have not said if the person that fired the gun is an employee or customer. the suspect was found dead on the scene. short time later - a second man was found on nearby seldendale drive with a gunshot wound. police say that is from this incident and they are only calling him a person of interest. here's more. sgt. matt bond - hampton police division c13 21:08:42 - we can't you is at this point in time, we are speaking with him to

we continue to follow developing news about the murder-suicide investigation in chesapeake. tonight we've learned police are investigating the possibility the dooleys were killed monday night. brooke dooley was not in school and todd dooley did not show up for work tuesday. we've also learned brooke's concerned boyfriend showed up at the wildwood road home with his mother and called police who discovered cameron's brother landon dead on the floor. doris dooley's next door neighbor valerie parker took this video of the barricade situation wednesday night into thursday morning and says she can not believe what has unfolded (from home video) ((14:38 person says they are going in 14;40 the blast oh my got cameron put up your hands)) super: valerie parker/next door neighbor (34:25 22) ((numbed shocked tragic horrible there's really not words to describe it happened in your house

and nothing ever sent off any alarms no)) runs: 16 there will be a vigil tomorrow night at 5pm in the temple baptist parking lot. funeral arrangments are complete, but have not been made public, and there will be an obituary on the family in sunday's paper and a reminder-- a vigil will be held tomorrow afternoon for the dooley family. it will be held-- at temple baptist-- the church the family attended for years. the church is on george washington highway in deep creek. the vigil begins at 5 o'clock. we have more information on the funeral fund for the family-- as well as our coverage of the story since it broke-- on wavy dot com. now to developing news in norfolk. police continue to investigate a bizzare situation at the lafayette river. just before 4 this afternoon - police were called to the river near 26th street and villa circle - because of a dead man.

after republicans pushed back, democratic governor terry mcauliffe has backed off a bit on new gun regulations. mcauliffe's recent sweeping new gun policies were seen as a by-pass of the republican-led general assembly. today, both reached a compromise. republicans agreed to support a measure that would prohibit people from carrying a gun if they are the subject of a permanent protective order for domestic violence. the governor agreed to continue allowing gun-owners from other handguns into virginia-- as long as they have permits from their home states. the deal between the democratic governor and republicans in the general assembly accomplishment. odu students and staff hit the streets today in an effort to increase safety off campus. they called it a "knock and talk" and

virginia commonwealth university researchers are sizing up the toll from the opioid epidemic. nearly a thousand fatal drug overdoses were recorded in 2014 across the state--- most involved prescription painkillers or heroin. every year, opioid drugs kill nearly three times as many virginians as homicides. the research also found taxpayers fork over 600-million dollars annually in public safety and health care services alone. the hardest hit areas are southwest and southside virginia, hampton roads and greater richmond. a reminder about an important traffic detour for people in norfolk and portsmouth. if you have to drive around this weekend - keep in mind the midtown tunnel is closed. here's a live look from our traffic cam. it closed at 8 this evening for the entire weekend. that's so that crews can remove the elizabeth-river-trail pedestrian bridge. the tunnel will be shut down until 5 o'clock
