this storm system is already responsible for watches and warnings from south carolina all the way up to maine. dare county officials say there is flooding and challenging road conditions along nc-12 near hatteras. meteorologist ashley baylor is keeping a close eye on the storm - from the the super doppler 10 weather center. ashley - will this linger into the start of the workweek? tonight: rain showers with some sleet mixing in at times. dry by morning. lows: mid-30s. winds: n 10-20 mph. monday: partly sunny. a few showers developing late in the evening. highs: mid-40s. winds: nw 5-10 mph. tuesday: chance of sprinkles/flurries early, otherwise, partly cloudy. highs: mid-40swis: w 10-15 mph. we have been tracking rain through the afternoon hours in hampton roads, while north carolina has been getting wet all day. at times we have seen some sleet mix in, but it's rain (and some sleet) along with that brisk n/ne wind blowing at 15 to 25 mph, gusting up to 35 mph at times. nc/obx rain/sleet will taper off around 3 am, so it'll be a dry start to your monday. expect partly sunny skies tomorrow with temperatures topping out in the mid-40s. another area of low another round of

i did see two people being taken from the scene for questioning. police, though, have not released any suspects in this case. of course, anyone with information, is being asked to call police. in the newsroom tonight, i'm joe fisher, 10 on your side. new tonight -- a person was taken to the hospital after a fire in hampton this morning. we're told that person was treated for smoke inhalation. just after 10:30 - a 9-1-1 call came in saying a house on banister drive caught on fire. firefighters had control of the flames by 11. the house will most likely be condemned because of the fire and smoke damage. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. we're just getting started here on wavy news 10 - still ahead.

10 on your side went back to tidewater drive - the road is dry - but one northbound lane is still closed. crews are continuing to fix a portion of the road that was damaged by the water main break. we're still working to find out when both lanes will be re-opened. the director of track and field at virginia tech says it's been a "tough week" for his team after a freshman distance runner was accused of killing 13-year-old nicole lovell. dave cianelli made his first public appearance friday about the case since 18-year-old david eisenhauer was charged with murder. another student, 19-year-old natalie keepers is charged with accessory before and after the fact. cianelli says the team is trying to keep everything basically as routine as they can. new information about a bad accident we brought to you as breaking news last night on wavy news 10 at 11. hampton police say the person hurt in the accident is still in critical condition. last night, just before 9:45 - police say a mazda bouldevard, ran a red light and and hit a chrysler s-u-v.

15-year-old female were also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. the accident is still being investigated by police. a word of warning from the norfolk sheriff's office tonight - about a phone scam. a spokesperson says someone is calling norfolk residents claiming to be a sheriff's deupty, informing them they missed jury duty and must pay a court fee - or spend a day in jail. get residents to put one-thousand dollars on a prepaid card. if they refuse, the caller threatens to dispatch a unit to arrest the sheriff's office jury duty correspondence is always done through the mail. and the sheriff's office will never call asking for money. if you've recieved a call - report it to norfolk police not the sheriff's office - we've put the contact info on wavy dot com. multiple taxi services and a local attorneys office are teaming up to make sure people make it home safe if you're out celebrating the super bowl. bar patrons living in chesapeake, hampton and newport

a running and donut eating competition went terribly wrong for a man in north carolina this weekend. officials say a 58-year-old man died after participating in the krispy kreme challenge at nc state univeristy in raleigh. the event requires most participants to run 5 miles while eating 12 donuts in one hour. race officials say the man stepped out within the first mile after having chest e nearby say its shocking to hear this happen. we have new information about a deadly earthquake that shook taiwan. rescue teams worked through the night and into today hoping to find more survivors. people searched through the rubble of a collapsed 17-story high rise. more than 100 people are still believed to be trapped inside. rescuers pulled three dead bodies out of the ruins overnight. at least 26 people were killed in the quake. hundreds more are hurt. we continue to follow developing news from the korean peninsula. north korea says it successfully launched a satellite into orbit.
