-- police say many of these victims are from here, from the united states and not foreign nations. tonight we heard from investigators who are actively combating this - and from a survivor. tanya street - who lives here in hampton roads shared her story before a small, but engaged crowd tonight. nearly twenty years ago, as a single teen mom, she was lured into human trafficking, and spent nearly 2 years on the street. it was her vulnerability that her pimp preyed upon. police say this is common -- victims aren't often forced into trafficking, but manipulated into at a time of weakness. many are young, sometimes runaways, sometimes drug addicts. newport news police lt. michael hudgins says our region is a hot spot for exploitation. just in the city - nearly 150 people were arrested for prostitution and human trafficking crimes from 2014 through to september of 2015. it's seen in online advertisements - at motels -- massage parlors - and on the streets. and police are cracking down. one of their biggest challenges -- getting victims to trust them.

runs: 13 norfolk police say they're aware of the allegations-- and they're investigating. tonight, virginia state police are trying to figure out who shot two men on the highway overnight. police say they were on i-64 west near harpersville road in newport news, at around 2 a-m. they say another vehicle pulled up-- and someone started shooting. medics took both men to the hospital-- and expect them to survive. they could not give us a description of the suspect's vehicle. a woman faces charges tonight because police say she caused an accident in newport news. if you got caught on jefferson avenue this evening it's the reason why. police had to close the road for an accident at the intersection with bland boulevard. traffic backed up onto i-64 while they cleared the scene. police say neither driver involved was seriously hurt. they say caelen mccaffrey from yorktown ran a red light and hit another car. a quick traffic alert: officials at the jordan bridge say they've closed the ramp from i-464 to poindexter
