a grieving mother is calling for an independent investigation of an officer-involved shooting in virginia beach. in september, officers responded to the 7-eleven on lynnhaven parkway in the salem neighborhood. they say 35-year-old angelo perry opened fire on them, so they fired back on his vehicle. also inside? 27-year-old india kager and their baby in the backseat. perry and kager died. the child was not hurt. days later, police told us perry had a record of crime and violence. they believed he was planning something-- and had him under surveillance at the time of the shooting. today, kager's mother met with a deputy commonwealth's attorney. she laid out her concerns with the police response-- and asked to see surveillance video from that night. she also met with police.

palka picks up where our brandi cummings left off today. liz, you spoke to kager's mother and an officer. nicole - i did check in with police. a spokeswoman told me they would not be commenting on this case today - or releasing new information. that includes some of the evidence kager's mother was hoping to discuss. a tearful gina best walks out of the virginia beach police department. she had just met with chief jim cervera for more than an hour. activist jerroll sanders was also in the room... c2 18:15:16 - we discussed the events the night her daughter was killed. the bottom line is, there was no immediate threat. :26 best, who is india kager's mother, wants to know why police had to move in on suspect angelo perry that morning. police said in a news conference in december - they had been doing surveillance on perry. and believed he was connected to a murder. chief jim cervera said two guns were found in the car kager and perry were sitting in when they were shot and

the former headstones dealer had pleaded guilty last august to taking more than four thousand dollars from grieiving families for headstones that he never provided. c 9 19:12 pamela campbell assistant commonwealth's attorney -- he would tell them there was weather issues, there's this, they never got the headstones from this gentleman, they never got their money back, he never refunded their money. prince says several medical conditions kept him from completing his contracts with fifteen victims overall in chesapeake, norfolk, virginia beach and portsmouth. c 11 22:32 edward prince defendant -- i'm very sorry to the families. i know the headstones business is a serious business. it was my intention and it's still my intention to make total restitution to the families. judge marjorie arrington gave prince 21 months active time. his attorney asked that it run concurrent with the 14 months he's already serving from virginia beach. the judge refused, so now he's serving a total of nearly cases in the four cities consolidated into
