represented himself. his stepdaughter, stacey (spee-oh-nee) spione tells us muslimani sexually assaulted her for years. after two hours of motions and witness discussion today - the judge said the case was getting out of hand. relieved to get in here today. and things actually started to get underway. and as soon as i heard the judge start talking after we came back from a break i just, i didn't need to sit through the whole thing. the judge says the trial will now start on july fifth. today, a norfolk grand jury indicted a man on murder charges. michael brown is accused of killing angela lechlitner at her shafer street home in 2008. detectives have not said if brown knew lechlitner. police arrested him after a traffic stop in north carolina last year. a quick update to a court case we previewed this morning -- a norfolk judge pushed back the jury trial against 26-year-old kareem turner. investigators believe he shot and killed dejuan

two years ago. the trial is now set to begin in may. three more people suspected of killing a portsmouth teenager are in custody. u-s marshals found rodderick britt, andre keel, and jalon trotter in an atlanta apartment. officers believe they killed 17-year-old jayzayvia hill last year, during a triple shooting on deep creek boulevard. police arrested them, but let them go when prosecutors set charges aside. now the charges are back. samking beale and raykwuan short have turned themselves in. new tonight, a robber is going to prison a virginia beach jury has fixed his punishment at 46-years behind bars shortly after a judge sentenced him. in 2003, 33-year-old jesse lugaro forced his way into the subway on princess anne road. lugaro took out a gun and locked two employees in the freezer before forcing another to open the register. he accidentally fired a shot before taking off with nothing.

and pressed charges. lugaro is already serving 27-years for robbery and other crimes. he's set to be formally sentenced for this robbery in june. new tonight -- norfolk police are are looking for a man- they say- abducted his co- worker on a cruise ship. 25-year-old brandon smith is wanted on a long list of charges. according to court documents -- a woman told police smith held a gun to her, groped her, and exposed himself while on the spirit of new jersey. the two were reportedly working onboard while it was docked at waterside. new tonight -- demolition crews will start ripping down the old norfolk circuit courthouse tomorrow. razing the 50-year-old building is another step towards building a new civic plaza. last summer crews tore down the old general district courthouse. in its place, the city plans to put a juvenile and domestic relations court and a law library. it expects the project to be finished next year. this high rise in hampton now has a date with dynamite. next sunday crews will implode the lincoln park apartment tower. the 46-year-old apartment

for about two years. the city plans to put up a new housing community -- ready for move in by 20-19. new tonight -- a man faces fraud and drunk driving charges in williamsburg. last week, police say 49-year-old jeffery kerr drank three beers and left without paying from a restaurant on york street. officers say they spotted his vehicle at a second restaurant on richmond road. police arrested him a few minutes later. kerr is in jail tonight. a deadly crash in virginia beach involved an experience e-m-s brigade chief. tuesday, police say brigade chief jeffrey brenneman crashed into a car on lynnhaven parkway. city officials say he was on duty at the time -- but not rushing to an emergency. they say he was headed to the city garage. 88-year-old doris baxter died. brennaman has worked for the department for 31 years. he's on administrative duty tonight. a townhouse in virginia beach -- will soon be a community gathering place. city council has approved plans to build "the spot" in the lake edward neighborhood. planners

children come for mentoring and tutoring. neighbors tell us-- they were concerned about security, which city officials say they've addressed. sot - tanya shadley , and if people are just hanging out you dont want the neighborhood looking like that. 5:32:10 (butt) sot - dr. amelia ross-hammond, virginia beach city councilwoman - and they promised to have that. 5:20:44 only councilman jim wood voted against "the spot" last night. he told us, he didn't think it was a good idea of residential space. if city council approves the virginia beach school board's budget, teachers and staff will be getting a small raise. the proposal also includes ten extended-day kindergarten classes, and the replacement of more than 20 school buses. if it passes, the schools say they will not need to raise class sizes and they'll be able to hire more people. still to come, one year after a drive by shooting ripped a local family apart, police have no suspects.

breaking news -- norfolk police dispatchers tell us-- officers are investigating a suspicious death on west ocean view avenue, just past 10th view street. they got a call around seven tonight for medical assistance, but they're still not sure how that person died. dispatchers say police are trying to make sure there isn't any foul play. we have a crew on the way to the scene, and we'll let you know when we have an update. one year ago tonight -- a drive by shooting tore a family apart. chesapeake police have collected their evidence, but there's still no one to blame. all we know is someone shot two people on rivercreek road, including 23- year-old levi frederick who died. doctors

a big decision 2016 -- doctor ben carson has effectively ended his campaign for president. after disappointing results on super tuesday, carson said he "sees no path forward" to the republican nomination. he says he will not attend tomorrow's g-o-p debate in michigan. the retired neurosurgeon's campaign promised more information later this week. many of you have been thinking about your next move -- depending on the

it's been a year since police found anjelica "a-j" hadsell dead. she vanished near her home in norfolk, and police found her body weeks later. family tells us the college freshman was a loving daughter, sister and friend. what they don't know is why she had to die. 10 on your side's joe fisher has been following the investigation since it started. he follows up tonight. the cape hatteras light house is working again tonight-- according to the coast guard. the past couple days, the familiar flash was out of commission. the island free press reports the light stopped turning. the guard says it found the part needed to fix the machinery and get it moving again. william and mary gets ready for its conference tournament with that elusive bid to the big dance on the line. and for the first time in 33 years, lake taylor is in the state playoffs. we'll check in with the titans next on the
