good morning, hampton roads. let's check traffic now. later this morning, norfolk city leaders will say goodbye to the old norfolk courthouse. demolition crews will began tearing down the building to make room for a new civic plaza. the city says demolishing the 50- year-old building marks a big step forward in improving the

and downtown area. rico bush is live in norfolk with more on the project taking place this morning. rico. good morning don, katie. after 50 years, norfolk says it's ushering in a new era with that brand new plaza aimed to give the city a new and vibrant look. norfolk started its journey to build a new courthouse and civic plaza complex in 2-thousand-4. renovations include raising the plaza to prevent flooding, making more public open space, and extending main street to create a new public drop off area. the new city courthouse opened last year with the circuit and general district courts. last summer, crews tore down the old general district courthouse. in its place, the city plans to put a juvenile and domestic relations court and a law library. the entire project should be complete in 20-17.

bush,10 on your side. we're waiting for currituck county fire officials to give us more information about this fire from last night. witnesses sent us this video and told 10 on your side a barn or garage caught fire on caratoke highway near south currituck road. that's near the town of maple. we'll let you know when we get more details. this morning, norfolk police are trying to solve a undetermined death investigation in ocean view. detectives say they got a call around 7:00 last night to a home on west ocean view avenue on willoughby spit. the call came in for someone who needed medical attention. a police spokesman says they're making sure there's no foul play involved. we'll update you as soon as we hear more. happening today, the trial is scheduled to start for the woman accused of stealing thousands of dollars from her employer. chesapeake police say mandi flowers worked for people's auction company until her bosses fired her in

the church pews were full last night at a concert meant to help one of the waverly tornado victims. people raised $26-hundred dollars for trenika stringfield at olive branch baptist church in suffolk. stringfield lost her son, brother, and boyfriend in last week's deadly storm. she came out last night with her father - who's a minister at the church. dancers, singers and musicians performed for free. stringfield told 10 on your side the support is helping her get through. c72 trenika stringfield from package c72 21:03 this is what i need right now my spirit things to happen that will draw us closer together sometimes it takes things to happen, that we might come together." last night's attendees were members from a number of churches in the area. if you'd like to donate to help trenika, look for a link on wavy-dot-com. more than a week after the waverly storm, neighbors have cleared a good amount of debris. crews
