the past couple of days we do have warmer days to look forward to and not freakishly warm but certainly above normal right now it is quieter town point park skies mostly cloudy that sweets can be for most of today although the sun may try to peep through the clouds from time to time i do expect more cloud cover a bit later. you can see those clouds kind of pushing through the area this morning had a couple very light sprinkles out to the west early to the overnight but nothing significant there you can see a few more sprinkles down on hatteras now is a slight chance that there could be a sprinkle down on the coast but i don't think we'll see much here generally just mostly cloudy and dry conditions certainly drive the morning commute north winds at twelve mph the pressure is falling the inlet areas are cooler mid to upper thirties when she get out towards i ninety five. you'll notice temperatures in the mid to upper forties near the coast so it is very mild relative to what we've been experiencing as we take you through the day the high official around fifty to

there is a few spots hitting the mid to upper fifties now tomorrow we'll look at upper fifties and more widespread and then into the weekend closer to sixty on saturdays will enjoy that there will also come chances for rain i will detail that for you in just a few minutes law said the school day forecast coming up all right craig now to take a look at traffic were headed back now to sixty four out in norfolk web and watching an accident in the hov lanes not too far from chesapeake boulevard in a live look at our first camera now it looks like things have just about cleared up out there the accident was in the hov lanes when i see clearly the accident scene you can see certainly not the backups just yet but it looks like our flashing lights have rapped about theirs are headed toward five sixty four on a second camera you'll see the back about a mile away from the earlier accident scene. so we're still dealing with heavy traffic between chess people of art and five sixty four. i'll have the latest on how those backups are developing

another update coming up at six ten and later today crews will begin repairing damage to the chesapeake bay bridge tunnel after a truck driver took out a stretch of guardrail and ended up in the water. this happened yesterday afternoon on the southbound side near the eastern shore. police believe the driver came up on a slower vehicle tried to pass it but ended up crashing through the guardrail him a tractor trailer filled with soybeans went into the bay members of the virginia beach police department marine patrol unit pulled him out of the water when they reached him he was conscious he was coherent he was able to give them information obviously he was able to tell him where he was certain what he was you know the pain he was having what condition was in a medical crew flew him to the hospital he had injuries to his arm head and chest. the chief of the chesapeake bay bridge tunnel police department is expected to release his name today. this morning testing police investigating a possible attempted abduction a woman says that she was trying to get into work or on

norfolk yesterday morning that's when she said a man assaulted her and pulled her from a card that she did manage to escape he says the attacker ran off police right now do not have any suspect information. brady is addressing a heartbreaking issue later today suicides in the branch are up so leaders and the chaplain there to be talking about the importance of here intervention but the navy is not the only branch with this problem the deities as suicides are slightly up in every branch of the military and that any suicide is quote too many officials say they continue to implement policies aimed at lowering the tragic numbers this morning three pastors have filed a lawsuit against the virginia republican party they want to stop the requirement that primary voters declare they are republicans they say requiring a declaration violates the constitution and the state law. right now virginia voters don't register by party and anyone can vote in a primary for the state board of elections approved the requirement

super warm like it was in december but for january one for january and not is bitterly cold is what we're dealing with so today we're starting off mid forties and as we kick it through the noon hour temperatures get up in the lower fifties and looks like. afternoon temperatures will top out pretty close to fifty three degrees at the airport i do expect the militaries of them in the south to be a little bit warmer these temperatures though will be above normal and that warming trend will continue through your weekend so be prepared as temperatures get up near sixty on saturday and low sixties on sunday. i have been watching the radar down to the south and off the coast of hatteras a few light sprinkles here nothing significant. the rain is more significant across arkansas into louisiana storm system there pretty soon the wet weather for our area we should be good shape today very low risk of the stray sprinkle near the coast a little bit later on as you can see the temperatures by the noon hour up around fifty one a b fifty two degrees or so and the official high

we head now to norfolk where we had three accidents working near the same area you can see here kind of off to the right shoulder in the outside to blame the accident involving a tractor trailer sixty four western tidewater is in the clearing stages we still had two accidents in the hov lanes one each sb boulevard the other at little creek and traffic is backed up to north hampton blvd something out of their leaders for you in all of those spots coming up at six forty four an hour got a crime alert for you and not think that is where police are searching for suspects in a rash of armed robberies please tell us three seven eleven stores were robbed in the span of two hours last night the first on red gate avenue the second at colonial avenue and princess anne road and the third a chesapeake boulevard in fisherman's road that store was the same place where a clerk was shot during a robbery early yesterday we broke that news on daybreak yesterday. there's no word whether the incidents are connected but the suspect description is similar if you know anything call police yet another traveler for this twenty two suspected bank robbers are on the run

county sheriff's office tells us that it happened just before four thirty yesterday afternoon at towne bank of credit act surveillance cameras captured one of the suspects but the sheriff's office is looking for two men they believe that the men got away in a white ford focus or fusion sheriff's office has also asked authorities in virginia to be on the lookout you this morning a judge ruled that a virginia beach mother who tried to kill herself and her two children must stay in a mental hospital for another year to review hearing yesterday a psychologist testified he feared the re agent could still harm herself or others aiken has been hospitalized since june when a judge found her not guilty by reason of insanity prosecutors say she crushed prescription pills into food and fed it to her two children. she then plays it herself. the children survived under this morning a virginia beach man has pleaded guilty to sex trafficking of a minor and this comes from our partners at the virginian pilot according to court documents alvin moore met a fifteen
