start off with a look at our rainfall map. this is the past twelve hours i know it's a little hard to rebut the main takeaway from this we had low rainfall totals a little bit farther and when so emporia frankly didn't seem quite as much rain as we did along the south side stretching down into northeastern north carolina where we actually picked up just over an inch in some spots. also along the middle peninsula and the northern exit the rain is out of here and we could see a stray shower or two this morning as that system continues to push off to the north and east but we're mainly going until the clouds here's a look overlooking downtown norfolk and with that cloudy skies temperatures are mild forty seven degrees right now the winds are out of the west southwest at thirty mph so it is a bit on the breezy side but with that westerly wind as a drying win prizes that will help to scour out the clouds just a bit simon says a bit breezy ten miles in chesapeake thirteen and norfolk are seeing those winds sustained at about twelve in virginia beach and thirteen in portsmouth as we
7:10 am
will remain breezy winds ten to fifteen mph out of the west and that can help to boost our temperatures and to the upper fifties by this afternoon and that is above what we said before this time of the year we should be in the forties and we're going to climb near sixty but i am tracking a big cooldown as we headed to the second half of the weekend and a chance for some wintry precipitation will talk about that a little bit more and just a few sure dramatic yesterday driving home was crazy for me to do yes it was pretty bad yesterday that it's gone. me too and a dryer start to the weekend should be saturday. yes i needed that well right now the red cross is helping victims of an apartment complex fire in alabama. fire officials say two people died and ten units destroyed the fire sparred thursday night and best of the hills but new this morning we're hearing about an act of bravery that saved the life of an infant. fire officials say they held
