ridiculous. i think everything's be just on every level display wise it's too team lead in it. well yesterday the governor did get twenty million dollars in aid for the city of flint the water is still low on safe to drink. millions of people hit by a bitter blast a major winter storm predicted for the mid atlantic this weekend as we told you when already a smaller clipper storm system has cost travel nightmares in and around washington d c that is where abc's long as zach is watching the weather dc is preparing for an epic blizzard with a trial run. we are very sorry for an adequate response. i also declaring a snow emergency he sees me are promising to be more prepared after less than two inches of snow fell wednesday evening leading to this and this was pretty rough driving home it took

capital and a total of twenty states are now under winter walks on a zach abc news washington. or when to talk about the weather that is going to move and a lot of folks obviously talking about a major winter storm for much of the eastern half of the country and some very significant impacts up through new england in new york a major metropolitan areas for hampton roads a little different story temperatures today in the mid thirties were seeing a lot of sunshine will enjoy these guys mainly clear into the evening where to spend some time talking about the weather that we will find across our area. if you can stay with us a little later in the show i've broken out a timeline that will show exactly what will happen from my period to period looking at tonight tomorrow morning just a day to day it's kind of a cool way to break it all down right now and focus on the future cast take a look
12:16 pm
there. this area shaded in purple winter storm watch. so who's underwrite a wacky season and maybe don't know the cities that will save you live up on the northern echo or the middle peninsula. you are under a winter storm watches include gloucester and mathews a brown kill morning kept a hand as you see williamsburg james city county that area also under the watch to on a life but a nordstrom the communities up there to the west of williamsburg to richmond petersburg south to emporia around franklin southampton winter storm watch as is north canton north carolina out toward roanoke rapids in areas south of that there's a winter weather advisory in this area shaded in pink lynchburg south boston out towards the mountains not winter storm watch but winter storm warnings and they are preparing for a very heavy snow some areas of flint half to two feet of snow a real possibility sad to leave
12:17 pm
that are at right now initiated temperatures we are in the mid thirties right now wind chills little cooler in the twenties for many areas we are enjoying the sunshine enjoy it now while we have it this is the calm before the storm that system will move in aid to the satellite radar images the flurries we saw last night they are out of the picture now you don't have to worry about any of that this afternoon so the view of a couple errands to run maybe get a few days before the nasty weather comes and it's a great time to do it this afternoon that's my advice into the evening were still in good shape but that storm system will come rolling in from the southwest going to take a look at what the future cast again tonight mainly clear overnight skies becoming partly cloudy off to the southwest and then tomorrow going around seventy and were still dry. here's the morning commute you gotta get out early. probably a really good shape weather wise but you see what's off to the southwest and pushing toward riley and seventy am that will continue to press eastward say that shortly or
12:18 pm
either side of noon. i expect the precipitation really start rolling in the area and has better chances for rain of the cosa mixing across the central part of the southside now to the west as we were more likely to see a mix or snow showers. notice is no steady route to the west is the year is expecting heavy snow. we're going to see that mix one can hang around hit the road so we talk about the system bringing a mix initially the hampton roads better chances for rain right along the coast of eastern north carolina snow farther inland into the north. look what happens tomorrow evening a transition to rain as warmer air gets drawn in heavy rain across eastern north carolina maybe even some flash flooding potentially reports of tar heel state and that warmth continues to pour into the year in the low tracks by our area saturday in the winter then increase tied to the bill does well on the backside of the system some colder air works in the evening saturday evening into the overnight still
12:19 pm
the transition early sunday we could have some leftover snow showers sunday morning we'll be watching that so here's a quick look the latest cfs snowfall projections you could see maybe a trace to an inch or two around hampton roads and towards because once the lettering how washing away in one ear is out towards richmond look at that sixteen inches from that model and it is just a model but this is a good guidance for our general forecasting again with the euro you see lighter amounts virginia beach and hampton roads maybe a couple of inches. we'll see when a track that heavier amounts up to the west i will take a quick look at a seven day forecast to jump off let's go back to the maverick and i do assure you the temperatures to warm up the weekends a lot of it coming is rain colder in

i cried so much detail with the system is still a changeable system so this is the way things look right now partial looking kind of timeline how things play out take a look this evening skies mainly clear so we are going to find a very pleasant evening it is a little chilly out there to stop in our mid thirties will become partly cloudy late tonight as we go tomorrow morning the system approaches clouds will increase and some ex precipitation or snow will come in from the southwest during the late morning hours and i think by around noon midday tomorrow we start to see that increasing across the area and maybe some rain showers near the coastal range would be more likely because of that mix in the snow will be likely and went through the early afternoon and as we head towards the evening. warmer air mixes into our system so much of the precipitation that we see across the area starts to transition to rain this is friday evening
12:26 pm
seventy years where changes over to rain for a new kind of watch some of that away so glad to see exactly where that rain snow mix line is also the winds are going to start increasing from the northeast and ten at ten twenty to thirty mph and it could be some higher gusts the winds will continue to be pretty strong saturday morning and we are to see more here is a brain some of those pockets of rain could be heavy and gusty winds are going to start pushing the tides above normal this is saturday morning and into the early afternoon by saturday evening still wet windy the rain is going to mix looks like start to transition back to maybe some wintry precipitation or snow especially out to the last as colder air wraps back into the system. i told is a pretty complex things that are so many different details minor tidal flooding is possible saturday evening and sunday morning there could still be some snow showers lingering early and still windy with colder air across the region. i that's it breaking it down period by pyramid show you my snowfall

why am i doing that this right here this little curly see just some scattered showers around dallas. this is the beginning this is the infancy of this storm system that is going to do so much across the atlantic up to the northeast us blizzard warnings in place you see there is a tornado watch box has been posted over east texas for basically write huge makeover through central louisiana in this area of low pressure that's the one that could attract along and through our area over the next forty eight to say sixty hours or so and as it moves along it's going to bring with it the weather so we start off with clear skies today and tonight the future cash showing you the increasingly shot to the southwest. this is early tomorrow morning around seven thirty we're still dry here as we take you through midday snow pushing into the western parts the area to mix precipitation across our area for awhile during the afternoon i do anticipate
12:40 pm
mix for some snow showers across parts of the arena continues to the north and west. while it transitions to rain across virginia beach and chesapeake up into portsmouth and norfolk as we had the late afternoon evening. more rain showers anything else. very heavy rain down over eastern north carolina that's going to track through the area as the low pressure comes through the winds are going to be stronger and we are going to see the tides building above normal some potential for minor tidal flooding later saturday and look at the persistent snow with the colder air the moisture farther inland this is the area that is have some areas could see two feet of snow with this system very heavy snow persisting out that way as we go saturday night and early sunday a lot of what weather becomes more showering but colder air is going to push back in the backside of this and we will see chances for a few snow showers early sunday morning so we'll be watching that as far as amounts go i think we could see a trace
12:41 pm
bit more across parts of the southside the farther west you go the more you see the totals going up queensbury area maybe two three or four inches. we get towards richmond six to twelve so does get heavier up that way as we take a look at the seven outlook there is light at the end of the tunnel. i think as we go through the day on sunday will see improvements a few morning snow showers
