12:01 pm
of heavy rain but it's this line out to the west we're watching very carefully in fact we did have a tornado warning over the western part of north carolina north of charlottesville zoom in here and this is a cell we were looking at and again at this point as we updated you can see again there's that nice severe thunderstorm warning and then the tornado warning that is out for the county of alexander the city of taylorsville this cell right here that continues to move off to the north so this is what's out there again i tornado watch for much of central north carolina and then out to the less we do have a thunderstorm warning and that tornado warning for that sell out there we're already seeing some rotating cells and that's the thread through the afternoon i wanna take it off she could see out to the south the year is under the watch chain in this kind of magenta color. there are flood watches out to the west across western parts of virginia. they will likely be another watcher comes up before too long that will fill in the restive eastern north carolina and parts of southeast and south central
12:02 pm
up later this afternoon but the stage is set for the strong to severe storms now i do have just a little bit of good news regarding the highest threat of severe weather. if you watch too early on daybreak we had this eerie shaded out to the west then the storm prediction center updated it and brought it closer to the cosa put it right over the bulls i was right over hampton roads well they just put out a new one and the ship to back west a little bit but whether you're in the moderate risk area with this enhanced risk area we all need to stay very alert to the developing weather we will see chances for thunderstorms this afternoon and some of this could produce very gusty winds and the possibility of isolated tornadoes. the best chance for tornadoes farther to the west again but we could see some develop closer to the coast. this is our mission through the afternoon to keep you updated on what will be going on so we have these threats will be facing across the region and will keep you updated state to have an exact look at our

12:16 pm
watching the developments throughout the morning really this is a well advertised or may she who we are talking about this for the past few days knowing that the stage was kind of being set up and that everything was coming together. it's gonna be interesting going to be watching for potential strong storms through the afternoon and there is of course that threat for severe weather now we're definitely watching that threat for severe weather as we head into the evening and into the nighttime hours not really p keating as we head throughout the day so that's something that you want to watch closely but we'll talk about some of the starr report what happened with the system in just a little bit that we're going to focus on the impacts will talk about this certainly gusty winds and there is potential for isolated tornadoes so why she's been watching the actual storm impacts are reports coming in we'll hear more from her the moment right now on to tell you the fall we saw yesterday morning that's that's gone temperatures have shot up right now are sitting at seventy degrees at norfolk international. it is windy out there and the temperatures in the low seventies and then falling off as we go in the evening back down to the sixties there will be chances for
12:17 pm
we head to the evening now not everybody's gonna see severe weather is going to be centers of rain that come through but the potential is there for isolated strong or severe storms and we should see a watch going up as we get into the early afternoon and most likely into the evening as well so we're going to be bracing to cover the wet weather and the stormy weather for it through the afternoon into the evening as the front approaches and eventually pushes through chapters are really surging right now upper sixties to low seventies you see the rain on the lens here with our sky views matter of fact i you can hit that dlc but in real quick just clear the softening in a good look at the downtown area thank you for doing that again light showers right now the roads are damp you want to be careful but we're not looking any severe weather locally. south winds are picking up twenty two mph it's been a very rough morning weather wise across the florida panhandle there we had that tornado in pensacola and outbreaks in asia will fill us in on across parts of the south but i do want to talk about
12:18 pm
across our area showers pushing through and instead the rain out to the west we knew the tornado watch is already in place to the southwest of our viewing area and that's going to continue through the afternoon and will continue to watch a couple had the cells here a new tornado warning down to the south you can see this one this is south of fayetteville and this is going to continue moving off to the northeast so going to continue to watch that when we have another sell out here north of charlotte and hickory is actually the cell right there that they had a warning on as well. let's information she's been looking at some of the storm impacts already i add my keys and credit has been a busy morning across the south than we've had several wind damage reports across the south pushing into florida also georgia and then snow on the backside of the system where it is much colder. so let's if we could take those graphics full because i want to show you some of the reports that we've guy and i end with this particular system and this is actually max two and you'll
12:19 pm
in a little bit here and there was a tornado reported and is again max to either was a tornado reported in southern georgia and this was in grady county. i had about two forty nine early in the morning and then even we even had some funnel cloud reports across palm beach city and so again this system has been producing tornadoes that have been producing damaging wind does not mean that what we've seen and the south is exactly what we're going to see here but definitely something that we're watching and then there was a tornado warning that was in effect just south of fayetteville that one so far just produce a funnel cloud so no confirmed reports of tornadoes just yet with that particular storm but as we had throughout the afternoon we're going to continue to watch these closely crime or a donation here is the latest on that tornado warning in the one that was to the south of fayetteville you can see it runs until twelve forty five it's moving off to the lives of the town of maybe up towards garland to
12:20 pm
radar signature and not a confirmed touchdown there here's a future cast to what we expected the afternoon showers are going to fill an order to see some isolated heavier cells you take a look at what's going on out to the west here to receive are greater chances for some of the stronger storms through the afternoon and then into the evening a few more isolated cells potentially and that will continue into the evening. these are not mass of cells but potentially they could spin up and produce some twenty years so we're watching for this is by just means there is an elevated risk more so than we typically have the good news is once this line moves to want to see drier air moving in overnight and big improvements as we head to the weekend more sunshine i'd say here's a severe weather outlook for today the latest from the storm prediction center again this is a graphic that we don't generate here we take this information from noaa national weather service are strong prediction center and this is a group of experts has to be whether the try to pinpoint where the greatest
12:21 pm
to emporia along i ninety five and at a north carolina that would appear to be the greatest threat of severe storms with the chances for tornadoes out that way. here we have the enhanced threat again likely will see a tornado watch going up a little bit later into the afternoon we're expecting that again enhance risk across our area so we're certainly going to be watching carefully temperatures this morning low seventies as we head to the overnight forty seven the low tomorrow we will enjoy a little more sunshine it can be a stray shower left over but i don't wanna see much there i think we will see partly sunny skies and improvements as we head to the weekend cooler friday and saturday upper forties back in the upper fifties on sunday and monday low sixties with partly sunny skies so you can see there's some light at the end of that always need to get through the next say twelve hours or so twelve to the nsa eighteen hours and then things really do brighten up again threat of severe weather this afternoon does mean
12:22 pm
i do really encourage you to stay weather aware whether that's through our mobile apps are web site thirteen years now. com. of course watching this will keep a messy afternoon yet again isolated storms but some of them could really pack a punch or kick that you select the us are falling for this the stage moments ago at reading university. yet in fact let's listen in right now that that's not exactly what they want to hear but i have to be truthful so and there's a good example of two really great the boys i have five children all together and the role and they've been fantastic you know eve aka most of you know iraq is going have a baby in about a week we've been waiting we thought iowa. we thought to have our adult rather speaking of revenue versus just getting started by the way that's why you haven't heard get into the real details of the specious kemper also streaming this on her website as well we are and are eric caine is there live also look for reports and later coming up throughout our newscast as well. alright celebrating and

the storm yellow bag to store more because the rain high winds and the threat of tornadoes because of severe storms we just heard back from virginia beach and they tell us cruise rock clearing storm drains in that area right now checking pumps ahead of the storm yet to langford is the most but what works and it's also all of the work sites throughout the city actually be secured against the high winds that we could see so we're going to check in now with crack and find out what we can expect in win over some looking areas of rain in a really filling announcement entry now across parts of north carolina the question will be how intense will the cells get and we've been tracking a line that's developing a little farther
12:30 pm
there's actually a tornado warning radar indicated that a tornado warning that we are tracking south of fayetteville was she that moment but it's his other why not here to the last right here that also was producing some rotating cell so a couple areas to watch so far just showers out there and you've heard a lot of discussion about this we are in an area with an enhanced threat of severe weather with some potential for isolated tornadoes certainly some gusty winds and outflow from some of the stronger storms that could possibly develop later this afternoon so we'll either watch uses does not mean that everybody is going to have just these monster storms but there is a potential for the isolated stronger cells and this is what we are monitoring very carefully and down to the south i mention we do a couple cells are producing very heavy rain and we had one rotation it was indicated radar indicated down here in south central north carolina to see the signature right here here's fade on this is all moving off to the northeast so as far as the actual warning those were
12:31 pm
another little one that was off to the north hickory right there that sell that's really we can but we have some more intense cells that are moving along here north of charlotte were taken to watch cheesy spread to the northeast as well as far as the warning goes this is the area again this was until twelve forty five the map loading up here he is he just part of it still moving up to the northeast approaching a garland that until twelve forty five so that's the only thing out there right now that we're watching terms of the potential severe weather across the media area that we're still ok now but later this afternoon. things could get a lot more interesting will be watching that so stay tune and you know that system devastated the south yet socially a girly zero him he joins us now with new pictures of the damage done to that area after a couple pictures to show you as we brace for storms this evening pensacola was hit with widespread damage and destruction when the system move through these are the pictures that are looking at now you can see the before image of one of the houses
12:32 pm
i mean the damage is just tremendous. you can see i actually took this picture from your twitter andre the damage here at one of complexes are getting a lot of these pictures that we're seeing from the south now it's important to note we can say what impact this system is going to have in hampton roads area live this is the same system moving towards our area so as always when it's safe to do so share your videos in your pictures with us using the hashtag thirteen storm and you may see them on air and online on thirty news now for all things asian. i alicia sees me keep on top of the storm throughout the afternoon geoff lawson in evanston where they're going to be in the weather lab also jenny craig and i each a tracking the storm of course faculty looking for damaged forests while and don't forget to download your weather caster asked us what it is free to the apple store and google play. it'll keep you up to date with ly radars wind advisories and a warning if a tornado just touched down into the american red cross

all possible this afternoon presentation they are here forecast but everyone's interested in this situation now i see how things come together certainly the potential is here for some stronger storms this afternoon and we should see a watch going up later this afternoon as well right now we have one out in it to the southwest of our viewing area from point park pretty quiet right now but we start with that let me quickly update you on a spot on forecasts reset yesterday we only had a quarter inch of rain and you could see the spawn street now we begin with chances for storms before this evening and we should see more more action show up on the radar to the afternoons or reset the street. temperatures now getting up and low seventies that part of our forecast is spot on the call for highs in the low seventies and those wins we've been talking about then as well. casa de up around forty maybe even forty five mph that was the case in norfolk at the airport already think about this is
12:46 pm
the storm this was in a cell that came through. this was just a wind gust up to forty five mph had some higher gusts up on the eastern shore know if i got their official reported to forty but we've seen several layers of dust up over forty mph on the eastern shore so the wins even with out the storms that are likely to develop later this afternoon very gusty and the winds and the gusty winds at one of the main concerns we have with the potential storms later today just outflow straight line winds and there've been numerous reports of wind damage across the southeast i want to focus very quickly on our area the showers coming through right now just some sprinkles breaks temperatures up in the low seventies stage storms this afternoon the watches out to our southwest of roanoke rapids so basically from round lake gaston on to the southwest that really have a tornado watch had been a couple of warnings out in this area right now are still watching a very active so i believe
12:47 pm
on that one that started off south of fayetteville and is rolling off to the northeast will watch it is also it's very intense rain around charlotte this is the nature born to be dealing with this afternoon winds of cells will develop some of them could become very strong producing gusty winds and there is some potential for some isolated rotation so we see a little better this year again this is a north carolina we have a heavier salvage has crossed up into virginia's western virginia and approaching a laurel fork so we continue to watch more of this for our area showers now really filling in on emporia rain extending over towards franklin but with the intensity picking up this afternoon lots of reports of damage cross out the site has been keeping an eye on that oh yeah the damage really with those wins craig we've also had some reports of tornadoes across the southeast as well as looks go ahead and take a look at what we're dealing with and this is mainly and southern georgia we had a tornado report early this morning at two forty nine missiles in grady county again right along the georgia
12:48 pm
report of a tornado. i just after one o'clock this morning just south of macon georgia and then we were watching this tornado warning that was just south of fayetteville road around eleven o'clock hour the tornado warning actually expire but it was radar indicated so we didn't get any ground reports with this particular storm but there was a final clock cloud spotted out with this particular storm so again this is more what we're going to say it doesn't mean that what had been produced with this storm is exactly what we're going to see as we head into the afternoon but it's something that we're definitely going to be watching friday for the updates on that i share what we have right now the future cats want to talk about what's going to happen so spotty showers this afternoon and have yourself rats out to the west initially to keep in mind this is the area that the storm prediction center is really targeting a greater risk of the severe weather and that when attic development we will see the potential for some isolated heavier cells at times coming through here as well. i think the greatest
