so you will get warnings issued well that watch was put out just after lunch when there wasn't anything at all in the area and it was with good reason. we had set for the past couple of days we'd likely see a watch is issued and so we have that tornado watch until nine pm this evening for the entire area now on the add on the warnings the warnings are way worse than a watch a warning means something has formed in the case of the red boxes it's a tornado warning which means either a confirmed tornado or on radar that we have a likely tornado the yellows which are sorta hard to pick out that there are fewer than the sprinkled in here as well those are areas where we have severe thunderstorm warnings. one other piece a good news. up until a couple of minutes ago we had a tornado warning al four areas of washington county just to the west of pearl county and we have some viewers down there that storm is getting ready to cross the albemarle sound in the next fifteen minutes or
5:31 pm
from even ten over here to battle is that city that one has the potential to spin up something again will keep a careful eye on that right now the main concern is this really intense line of storms with numerous tornadoes reported some incredible pictures of tornadoes of western virginia evergreen virginia saw an incredible looking funnel cloud out there with a tornado and as you can see that system is moving to the east we can put it all into motion and it's going to be just the last two hours two hours ago. it starts out here near seoul just west of south boston now it's over interstate eighty five another two hours from now it'll be online somewhere let's say from williamsburg back down west of franklin. continuing down in that direction will show you that here coming up in just a second but just numerous numerous warnings out there for everything from severe storms still not so much hail but wind damage and
5:32 pm
is part of the problem we're supposed to be fifty this time there were seventy. we have not only that but we have an incredibly moist air mass to get tornadoes when you get a moist air mass colliding with drier and cooler air the air that's coming in here tomorrow is already come across the mountains and pulling in that clash of air masses. so that's why we're looking at again different areas first lines move through second line coming through right now are not lined but second batch if you will because that's not really a line it's a little more individualistic with some of the showers and storms are tracking across eastern north carolina and then here comes this line out to the west look at the trend the trend is going to be for it to gradually die out this evening but certainly it has so much power and so much momentum with right now if you took an area wide view of things tomorrow i would guess and predict that most of your
5:33 pm
the warnings the land up being issued are going to end up being out here a little north and west of us and then will have fewer warnings but i guess i know we're still going to get some warnings here across the immediate metro area as well. little lower odds from that main line coming through parts of north carolina but you can see is we get to the evening hours that progression of everything to the east here as this mainline is now bearing down after the first line has gone through and there it is you can see there's also a bit of a break from around southern virginia down to four just south the rally is a bit of a break and be nice if we could get that to come over us but still this entire line obviously is set to move through the strong storms will be ending on the timeline that we just gave you wendy with clearing skies coming in a little bit later winds gusting now over fifteen mph will be back. of

5:38 pm
i spoke with a gentleman who was inside of his car as at the force of it actually lifted his car up he said he was terrified he didn't know was going on. luckily he made it out alive and was able to speak with us again. you can see that our trees are just being completely up rooted again it's an amazing sight to see it is unbelievable laundromat completely devastated here by this storm on at this point you know we do know that two people are confirmed dead and we are expecting an update from virginia state police at this point they have taken over and the investigation but again the damage out here is really just dun believe i've never seen anything like this on people are just trying to understand assess the damage at this point on and really kind of just come to grips with what has happened here but first responders are out here in swarms and there's a massive staging area for them so really kind of everyone just trying to assess the damage here at this point in our lives in waverly on marcella robertson thirteen years now. i of course
5:39 pm
state police is that three confirmed fatalities in waverly. our star mo coverage continues. moeller is live on the scene in waverly in craig from a meteorological standpoint it when you see all of that what do you conclude you know we haven't had a good look at the actual eye damage site yet they bought their obviously being very very protected keeping folks and just general passers by and certainly the media away from those areas hit hardest by digging a chance to talk with state police that were out here driving through and they said the deer damage was extensive lots of debris with the believe tornadoes sighted as it came through. we'll be getting more images and more updates from the actual damages come in through what you get a feel for the staging here this is a virginia state police mobile headquarters and there are multiple multiple jurisdictions represented you could see more ambulances coming in more medical
5:40 pm
locations. it's an incredible effort they are bringing in ambulances for different communities all around this region several towns maybe twenty thirty forty miles away coming in to help out with this effort so they're obviously prepared to deal with quite a mess here and i guess maybe potentially even some more injuries from this situation many fire trucks also on location i heard jeff mention this next new tornado warning has been issued for parts a step back and leading edge of that just looked on my radar app here we're looking at about forty five miles from the leading edge of that so it is still down to the southwest but obviously we are in line here in waverly at this whole thing continues to be into the northeast there is a concern that the folks here trying to respond and help those victims of the first round lead to deal with the second round of severe weather all of them selves
5:41 pm
to the site to see some more the damage if i get out next to get a good look i can tell you i've done this before with the different tornado damage sites to assess and look at the scatter pattern look at the damage pattern but frankly we're not being allowed to get back there just yet so we're along for six two at the family dollar and the fresh fried either this is where the police to respond are staging a couple miles from where they have the media held back were able to get in closer to where these folks are doing their thing but obviously we're waiting to hear more information from them and we don't want to get their way we do want to be respectful the job they're doing. we are working to get more information and we will keep you updated. all right craig thank so much we'll get back to soon have new information out there delays and cancellations already are starting it off and international airport's website shows the majority of flights in and out of norfolk are delayed right now things are looking better in newport news williamsburg there are only a handful of delays there. if you're flying tonight. best advice check on

5:48 pm
that was contagious said he's just segway the giving and you are a tough start to sell in iowa with virginia state police talking about the path of the storm that hit waverly where we know three people lost their lives earlier this afternoon saying that it started around route forty and then ended up at the backside of four sixty so we're going to continue to follow the developments there tremendous damage that will stay on that story will move up to newport news right now our chief take this a is on the phone with this chiefly of their fur. well thank you for joining us give us a sense of what's going on in newport news right now you have any issues as a result of the store more than eight hundred block of eighty three as the eye. we are the corral where we have a home of the cameras of all three

shot of i'm hillary clinton and i approve this message. her life's work has been about breaking barriers. and so would her presidency. which is why, for every american who's not being paid what they're worth... who's held back by student debt or a system tilted against them- and there are far too many of you- she understands that our country can't reach it's potential... unless we all do. together.

. a religious follower. welcome back we're continuing to try a dangerous line of storms as they move through happened. let's check in our chest for the latest update. one area moved through and the next one is bearing down and this one's

one that's bad news obviously since we've already seen at least three deaths that we know of with the first round of tornadoes that came to an tornado warnings this purplish color area that is a watch that mean something could happen. it was issued when nothing else was out there on radar but we knew the conditions were favorable and came out just after lunchtime today and now we're seeing the severe weather this one even had a tornado warning but it was just south of the albemarle sound has at least some good news as it carried up in northeast north carolina. it no longer was torn attic in terms of its overall signature line to get rid of tornado watch that everybody until nine o'clock this evening. so now we can get a little better look at some of these areas that were most concerned with and i'm adding on to the warnings now new warnings a lot worse than to watch a watch again you might not even have a storm out there yet and it seemed means that something is possible later in this case it was a tornado watch meaning tornadoes were a favorable conditions in terms of their development and now
5:55 pm
here to the state line extending appear past emporia tiny bit of a break and then another warning extends up to richmond another one north of there. this line making steady progress over the past several hours. it's moving eastward at about thirty to thirty four mph so it's still gonna take awhile but it's already beginning here in the next half hour to encroach on the far western part of our viewing area above the scene again the warning for emporia but that goes until six thirty so at about six thirty it's mostly just to the east here of i ninety five and bearing down on some of the other western locations. this gives you a better look i've taken off the radar so you can only see areas that are under that tornado warning and i expect this line to hold together certainly somewhat it hopefully will weaken as it comes here to the east but in terms the intensity already we are almost guaranteed to see some tornado warnings
5:56 pm
that first system again luckily our second system really the first was the line that came through earlier then the second tornado warnings we start again where the ones just down south of the albemarle sound and now here's the next one course here is waverly not too far from the national weather service site there in wakefield right along for sixty five headed out that direction. you can certainly know that that's a very famous location and virginia diners in waverly from not mistaken her pretty close to it and now you can see again these new tornado warning starting to encroach on the western part of the viewing area so right now winds out of south twenty five giving us a temperature of seventy one degrees were supposed to be fifty three and not only that but typically lets say it was fifty three we have dew points in the forties dew points are a measure of how much moisture is in the atmosphere up into the sixties and that combined with the cold air coming in on the backside of this
5:57 pm
winds just even outside of any kind of storms were looking at winds earlier today that was in the storm around we had wind gusts to forty five or forty seven mph right now with no storms here in the vicinity forty one at norfolk thirty nine in chesapeake thirty five in a husky and again that's not including the incredibly fast moving air aloft that in a storm gets pulled down toward the surface of wakefield right now at twenty eight but here is that line again continuing to move to the east and i mentioned earlier that i thought i like this because it kept the line together this view of future cast version i said it was a little too slow and it is but you get an idea of that line definitely holding together and then moving to the east as we go through seven o'clock quite a tussle really be a little bit more here advanced toward parts of the peninsula by nine it'll really be over parts of south side but i like the fact that at least tell that line
5:58 pm
future cast model so we're going to really look at a very active next few hours here it looks like is that line moves in from the west i thirty news now is in store mobile of an update from the areas impacted reported deaths after a possible tornado in sussex county we are live on the scene assessing the damage downed trees and power lines all the major concern as the storm continues to make its way through the area we
