ever been charged with the murder, tonight, the only man who investigators have ever connected to the case, is out from behind bars. megan o'rourke joins us live from georgetown with the latest on this case. i talked with prosecutor's here in brown county a few hours ago.and they tell me the stykes' case is still a top priority and they're hopeful an arrest will be made in 2016. as for the only man they've ever called a person of interest, they tell me they simply don't have enough evidence fox19 now has confirmed that, this man, 52 year- old tommy lee lopez was released from jail on december 26th. serving less than 6 months for a drug charge in owen county. and according to these court documents a confidential witness also told investigators that lopez was responsible for multiple killings.including the august 2013 murder of brittany stykes. the witness gave investigators

which happened here in a car on the side of u-s 68. ..but, still no charges. assistant corbin tells me despite lopez's release from jail, of interest in the stykes' case. fox19 now legal analyst mike allen, says it's not necessarily unusual. "while it would appear that they have a lot of evidence already on this individual, they probably don't think they have enough yet to get an indictment. you can bet though wherever he is going he is going to be under constant surveillance and sounds like eventually they'll get enough to take it to a grand jury" brittany's family also remains hopeful someone will be held accountable. they sat down with fox19 now last fall, but didn't want to go on camera tonight, at the request of the prosecutor's office. however, in a statement brittany's father david dodson said... "we miss our sweet brittany with every minute that passes. this is something that time is never going to heal. when we lost her, we lost part of ourselves that we

and is terribly hard to live without. after almost two and a half years, it is time we have answers and justice. it won't bring our sweet brittany back, but we need to see her and our family get justice for a loss we never should have to carry. the lord will see us through, one day at a time." since the investigation is still underway tonight.the brown county prosecutors office continues to ask the public for help with this case. anyone with information should give their office, or the sheriff's office a call. rl in georgetown, mo fox19 now. we've also got breaking news out of brown county where 2 children have been pulled from the water after falling through thin ice on lake lorelie in fayettville. officials tell us the kids were rescued by a neighbor who went out in a paddleboat and brought them to shore. this is the entrance to the gated lake community where two air care helicopters were sent earlier tonight to fly the kids to the hospital... we're told both children are doing well.
