temperatures drop... its important to remember to keep your pets inside.. and now a new bill in the ohio house is pushing to punish those who leave them out in the cold... with fines and possibly jail time. house bill 94 would make tethering an animal outside... illegal under certain circumstances. we spoke to a vet.. who says this is a dangerous time of year for animals.....large or small.. smaller breeds dogs are going to have more trouble in these conditions...so will large dogs with short hair...so those breeds will certainly have less trouble we've also got some tips from the humane society of the united states. if your pet does spend time outside, remember that keeping warm depletes entergy. your dog may need more food in the winter... and routinely check its water dish to make sure its not frozen.

the search for a missing danville ohio police officer...comes to a tragic end. this guy...herschel jones...is now behind bars for the shooting death of officer thomas cottrell. investigators say jones' ex-girlfriend called in to dispatchers...saying he was looking to target an officer....and about 25 minutes later...they found officer cottrel dead behind the danville municipal building. the woman has since been questioned and released. we'll continue to keep you updated on any

now to an update from hawaii....where rescuers are expanding their search for 12 u-s marines that have been missing since thursday. the marines vanished when two helicopters apparently collided off oahu island. the coast guard now says its search extends eight miles out from the north shore area. a navy ship equipped with sonar just joined the search operation. officials say they found some debris consistent with the type of missing helicopters but they aren't offering any other comments. developing overseas... the u.s. embassy confirms several americans have gone missing in iraq, after local media reported that three americans had been kidnapped in the capital of baghdad. the u-s embassy have not identified the missing americans or say what they are doing in iraq. local media reports in iraq said the americans went missing in south baghdad on their way to the airport. five americans are now free from an iranian prison... the five...including a washington post reporter seen on the top left of your screen......a minister and a former marine were released as part of a prisoner
