now it's 5 o clock. i'm kara sewell and i'm jessica brown.. rob williams is off today. winter weather advisory's for areas of northern kentucky clermont and brown county's go into affect friday morning. winter storm warning for our extreme southern and south eastern kentucky counties. we are watching what could be a major winter storm for our southeastern counties into and including northern ky on friday. this could bring upwards of several inches of snowfall with a foot possible in areas near maysville and as far north as florence and the i 71 76 split we could see anywhere from 4 to 8 inches crossing over into southern clermont county. important note a slight track change of just 100 miles could bring more or less. as of now snow starts early friday morning near 5am and continues

storm watches are now going into effect in parts of maryland, washington, virginia, west virginia and arkansas. officials are warning people to prepare for heavy, "perhaps crippling" snow to hit the northern mid- atlantic region... up to two feet of snow could fall in washington, d-c. major airlines are already issuing travel waivers for this weekend. we aren't expecting to see that much snow here at home.... but road crews are preparing for another busy day... after working long hours yesterday, they're already gearing up for tomorrow... our jordan vilines is live with all the details. live as you can see behind me, road crews are still in action here at the salt barn. city crews are continuing to treat primary and residential streets and at this time, the city reports that100% of primary roads and 50% of residential roads have been treated. crews have been

operating on 12- hour shifts since tuesday at 7 p.m. and they'll continue to treat and plow roads throughout the the day and if we get snow, they'll be working throughout tomorrow as well. at this point, they're closely monitoring weather conditions and road temperatures to ensure that crews can combat the wintery conditions as they develop. the hamilton county engineer says the good news is that they still have plenty of salt on hand since we've had a reasonably easy winter but.. it's still early. "the good news is we have plenty of salt at this point and time, december was kind to us and the warmer temperatures have helped us save money but january, we expect january and february to be cold, it's winter, we expect snow" live the engineer says the trucks will be pre-loaded with salt and they'll be ready to go as soon as they know when the storm is going to hit. reporting live, jordan vilines, fox 19 now as even more winter weather

students at kent state university say that they knew that history professor julio pino had a reputation for making controversial comments... but they never expected he would be at the center of an fbi investigation for having possible ties to isis. emily mills is the editor of the school newspaper,

agents questioned her about pino, because she has reported on him in the past. with their permission, she reached out to pino and asked if the allegations were true: "yes i did ask and he said that he was not involved, is not involved with the islamic state, he said that he doesn't support them as an organization, he said he's not actively recruiting students or anyione on campus to join." pino is still teaching two history classes this semester, despite the investigation. you may remember this... an 8-year-old new york girl was the sole survivor of a fire... she had one simple request... christmas cards. people around the world responded... sending nearly 2- million letters, cards and packages to safyre terry. there's so many that came in that they had to be sorted by volunteers in a warehouse. safyre, now in the care of her aunt, goes there often to read the well wishes herself. has 57 vehicles on the road preparing for tomorrow's snow event. crews are currently clearing the snow left over from yesterday and they're also pre- treating the roads with pure salt and calcium. city crews are responsible for clearing more than 3-thousand lane miles of roadway and at this time, the city is reporting that 100% of primary roads have been cleared and 50% of residential roads have been cleared. along with clearing and pre- treating the roads, the hamilton county engineer says they're also closely monitoring the weather conditions and road temperatures because as we saw yesterday, the colder the pavement.. .the more likely the snow is to stick but the hamilton county engineers says his crews will be loaded up and ready to go despite the temperature.
