close early today because of the massive snow storm heading there way in a few hours. in washington d.c., they are expecting records amounts of snow.... up to three feet in some places. the mayor is urging people to prepare to be snowed in for days. weather officials say that fear is not the objective- preparedness is. i think that is an indication that the city is taking this quite seriously and already beginning to mobilize the kinds of resources that will be needed to deal with what sounds like a pretty significant storm." states of emergency have already been declared in washington, d.c. and five states. many schools have already cancelled classes today due to the storm. they're not taking any chances.... our jordan vilines is live with more on how officials make the call. live closings, delays and dismissals are rolling in to our newsroom. a lot of places will keep the lights off

korean central news agency identifies the student as warmbier otto frederick, a student at virginia university...and there are social media reports that he is a graduate of wyoming high school here in cincinnati. reports say he entered north korea as a tourist....and allegedly plotted to undermine the north's system. the leader of an armed group that has occupied a national wildlife refuge in oregon for nearly three weeks says he has begun speaking with federal authorities. ammon bundy confirms he is speaking regularly with fbi negotiators. bundy said his group is "not going to escalate" the situation, and he agreed to speak with authorities again today. the group began occupying the wildlife refuge in eastern oregon on january 2nd to protest federal land use policies. a snowboarder is in some serious trouble -- after police say he caused an avalanche at a ski resort in cailifornia. go pro footage captured christian mare's wild ride.. as he came down the

"was going face first and couldn't bail out at the last second. hit a tree with his face unfortuately" 11-year-old noah mccauley was hurt while sledding on a golf course behind his home. he suffered multipled facial fractures and doctors are checking his spine for injuries. "he's doing good. i can't believe how good of spirts he's been in. he's been the bravest 11- year-old i ever seen" noah's father says it never crossed his mind that his son would be so badly hurt while sledding.. he's asking

it's arrested an american university student for what it calls a "hostile act" orchestrated by the u-s government. wyoming school district now confirms that student as as otto frederick warmbier, a 2013 graduate of wyoming high school, and current student of university of virginia. warmbier graduated wyoming as salutatorian, and played soccer there. we'll continue to keep you updated as we learn more about this developing situation.
