news.... cincinnati police are trying to figure out what caused a man to crash his s-u-v into the side of a westwood apartment complex! this was the scene about an hour ago on the 33-hundred block of mchenry avenue. police say the control at some point.... but aren't saying why. no one was inside driver was taken to with non-life injuries. right now... a lot of local families are celebrating tonight because their athlete kids... are headed to college! good evening, i'm tricia macke. for more we bring in jeremy rauch. jeremy.... lots of smiles today around town.. for high school

one of those big time players tuberville went for was prince sammons, who ironically picked auburn. more on prince, and his blindside- like story, coming up later on fox19 now. thanks jeremy... while this is a huge day for local athletes... it's also a huge day for their families! and with every signing... there's always a unique story about the person holding the pen. our own mike schell spent the day finding those stories. he's live from lasalle high school with that part of the story... here at lasalle and dozens of other high schools across the tri- state... lives are changing.... a lot of seniors are signing on the dotted line...and making a commitment to their future. lauren kittle of lawrencburg and luke doerger of lasalle are just two of hundreds of local high school seniors taking a big step in their lives.. 4lauren 'when i got to school i just couldn't focus. like, all i was thinking about was signing. lauren will study graphic design and play soccer at an art and design school in savannah,

1lauren "when i got to sign it was kind of like weight off my shoulders. like everything's official now and it was really exciting." and...for her parents??? 2lauren "they're very, very excited." for lauren's mom paula..these are tears of joy.. 1paula 'its gonna be very tough. we're very close but its gonna be hard." lauren said she cried all the way home from her team's last soccer game of the season...and the last day of a high school student isn't going to be any easier.. 3lauren "it'll be a really, really sad day. i don't know what i'll do with myself.." luke doerger has a all the time...not dad...but he is luke's engineering up the road at toledo.... 1luke "for something so small as just signing my name better i'm sure. luke admits...leaving his behind is going to be difficult.. 2luke "its going to be hard. its 1tom family. its a day that any

misuse of your tax according to a special report by the cincinnati enquirer... the metropolitan sewer district has dollars in public decade with little to no oversight! it all stems from former cincinnati city manager milton sewer director the way the district does business by eliminating some of the checks and balances for spending. after that memo, the investigation found that the department awarded million- dollar deals to contractors without seeking competitive bids and hired consultants to do work that was never clearly explained! if you didn't know... hamilton county sewers are owned by the county... but operated by the city. now the investigation has some officials questioning the system. "i think it's a kick in the teeth to the county's efforts to provide oversight and good management and

professor jim albertz says building a roadway into a steep hillside is not without its hazards. jim------if you wanted to design an area that was ideal for landslides it would look like this. albertz says the landscape coupled with the geology makes the area particularly prone to mudslides. jim------it's steep, it's underlain with an enclosed bedrock and on top of that is clay so as soon as the clay gets wet it get's mobile. and when that clay gets mobile it can slides with the full weight of trees rock and other debris....sometimes onto the roadway....despite the retaining wall. jim----the land was cut to put in the retaining wall and then all that soil above the retaining wall really wants to move because the natural base is gone. stand-up bridge--------profess or albertz says structures like this retaining wall avenue are not nearly adequate an avalanche of from sliding onto

now! covington police say 2 people are recovering tonight... after being shot while trying to break into a home! it happened on the 25-hundred block of warren street late last night. investigators say the suspects have non-life threatening injuries... and are cooperating with police. but as of right now... no charges have been filed. the hamilton county 9-1-1 emergency center.. seen here.. could be at the center of a tax increase later this year. two county commissioners are proposing a utility tax hike of about 20-dollars a year to help pay for the center. the proposal was approved last month, but hasn't been enacted yet. dennis deters says he wants more funding because several local police and fire departments are considering pulling out of the center because they can't afford to be part of it! but fellow commissioner todd portune says residents don't need another tax hike. "we've got to have a sustainable long term solution to the issue of funding the 911 dispatch services, but this proposed utility tax is not it."
